very good film. powerful stuff. i agree with the guy who said it has a bit of herzog about it. some parts reminded me of aguire and obviously grizzly man.

I know, I know... I "didn't get it." You're right. I don't get the recent phenomenon of Non-Endings.

I don't see it as a non ending. He accepts his fate and decides to die fighting.

Yeah, it's not a non-ending. The fight wasn't the point, just the fact that he was willing to go down fighting was all we needed to see.

I believe, this is unsubstantiated, that the film was originally supposed to end with a rescue copter finding him thanks to the tracking watch.

I don't know how that's a better ending than what we've got, even if it is more definitive.

I'm glad they didn't go that route if it's true. It would cheapen his whole decision at the end.

i wouldnt necessarily call it a non ending. I hate non endings too but the ending of The Grey seems pretty definitive.
He dies, along with the alpha. Even if he survived theres no way he'll live with the combination of oncoming hypothermia and the wounds he sustained from the alpha fight

I think that's a fine ending. Although the ending is what I mostly hear people complain about "THEY DIDNT EVEN SHOW THE ALPHA FIGHT!!! THE MOVIE SUCKED"

I originally didnt like the ending, but it has certainly grown on me, I think the the fault of the marketing, it definately showed some of the fight with The Alpha, so when that moment came, for it to cut to black was a huge dissapointment.

BUT, on re-watch I realised the ending wasnt about the fight, it was about how the character chose to die, which was basically the whole theme of the movie, how do you choose your end, and all of the characters do it differently.

i can understand the ending is polarizing. similar to no country for old men it doesn't show us the whole picture. but what it implies is powerful enough thematically.

Yes, the marketing was certainly most to blame here. The ending plays fine without expectations of Taken 3: Call of the Wild. Of course the movie wouldn't have been as successful as it was without that, so there's the Catch 22.

^Thats true, it did make the movie as successful as it was, but it was very misleading, which led to a lot of people not liking the ending.

yeah there were countless shots in the tv spots of liam and the black wolf having a fianl fight of sorts. Thats why I didnt like it at first ethier because I expected a last stand of sorts for him and right before that happened it went to credits. Having watched the film over again I see now the emotional core of the movie and how his character goes from wanting to die via suicide to having to rally a group of men to stay alive and ultimately in the end renew his desire to live and fight til the end.

It's a really good movie, right now it's my favorite this year in movies
I love the survival and talking about wolf habits, I'm glad Kane recommended it

Yep, this is pretty much my experience, and you summed up the movie perfectly, its about being able to find the fight to live in any situation, no matter how dire.
