These are both similar shows so I figured I'd mix a thread for them. Anybody else watch these shows? I've been watch Hoarders mostly lately, and it's simply mindboggling how much crap some of these people have. It's even worse hearing them rationalize why they need to keep some of it. Bills from 1985 and such. My wife's mom was the "cat lady," so it's particularly interesting to me and her....to try and understand how/why people get this way.

I love Hoarders and similar shows that document folks with compulsive hoarding. I do sometimes feel bad watching them, but it's eye opening. My mother owns a nursing home and she frequently says she comes across a lot older people who suffer from this.
I'm actually watching a new show on Syfy called Collection Intervention. At least, I think it's new. Anyway, I find this show really fascinating since collecting things is often what leads to compulsive hoarding in general. Yet, collecting things like comics, toys, and superhero merchandise is a past time I can truly understand. I also understand the reluctance to part with these items.

LOL...I wish more people watched Collectors Intervention!
I'm watching an episode now and they brought on Richard Hatch (Apollo on Battlestar) to help a beleaguered BG collector. I wouldn't doubt that they will bring on Mark Hamill or someone else form SW to help a SW collector. Too funny.

Did a search and found this thread. I've been watching Hoarders a lot lately and it's become one of my favorite shows. It's unbelievable how some of those hoarders' homes look and even worse what they find in the houses. Especially Shanna

I love these shows but, I also find them massively exploitative. Sitting there with a camera up someone's ass while they're sitting there shootin up heroin or smoking crack. Think anybody has ever od'd due to the production crew's own negligence????

They guy would probably use his carbonite chamber life size working replica to freeze poor Mark Hamill and add him in his collection.
