Saw the trailer this morning, and it completely blows my mind away by its sheer awesomeness. Things I love from #2:

- More action scenes involving IM & WM taking down the drones
- ScarJo, look so sexy taking down enemy
- Sam Rockwell!
- Silver Centurion Armor!
- And my #1 favorite, Stark put on an armor from a suitcase! That is such a great nod to early IM comics where he packed his armor in his briefcase

This movie is gonna pwn this summer.

Since Whiplash will help Hammer build the drones, does anyone else think he might be the one that makes them go haywire, not Hammer?

Oh, and was that an armored Vanko I saw during the "I hope you're ready" scene?

By the way, Whiplash has great chances of overthroning the Joker as the villain with the badassest repetoir:

"You come from a family of thieves and butchers. And now, like all guilty men, you try to rewrite your own history. And you forget all the lives the Stark family has destroyed. There will be blood in the water, and the sharks will come."

"If I did in my sleep, don't wake me up, because I rather be dead than live in your world."

"If you can make God bleed, people will cease to believe him."

"All I have to do is sit back and see the world consume you."

Man, what a badass.

I've been thinkthing the same thing. I don't want to get my hopes up, so I'm just telling myself it's a drone.

Man, what a badass.

All of his lines have been awesome in these trailers. For a hero with a weak rogue's gallery, the villians have been my favorite parts of the movie besides Iron Man/Stark.

Iron Man doesn't have a weak rogues gallery, its just not as established as other characters.

Jury's still out on Vanko's performance but it looks good so far IMHO. I do like all of his lines and that he's also a tech freak like Stark.

I hope Stark throws in the Moose and Squirrel line from the comics at some point. Sounds like something Downey would say as Stark.

Also with the hell everyone raises about changes to characters and continuity, I'm surprised no one is throwing a fit that they've essentially made Rockwell into Hammer as the anti-Tony. Much like Topher Grace was made the anti-Peter Parker as Eddie Brock. You guys are usually so sensitive about that .

I mean Rockwell's a good actor, but they've clearly made some changes to Hammer and made him younger and hipper so he's more like on the level of Tony Stark rather than an older more calculated dude like say Stane in the first movie.

I love Iron Man, he's my favorite hero by far. And I can't help but thinking he has doesn't great villians. There are good ones and a few that I love, but even Whiplash/Backlash in the comics I just didn't like.

Rockwell has built up a lot of good will, so I think people have less a problem with it. I have no problem with it myself. I always pictured hammer to sort of like the main bad guy in Robocop but they have appeared to make him more like Bob Morton. I'm cool with that.

Im completely fine with sam being an anti-tony. He and Robert Downey are two of the fastest talking, slickest mofo's in hollywood. I say let them do what they do best!

Busiek made Whiplash a good villain.

Seriously you guys need to find the Busiek run of Iron Man in the 90's, it was good ****. Even Quesada's short-lived run wasn't bad. Then Tieri got on there and . . . goodness.

Doc Holiday you make a good point. And Jeff Bridges basically played the Ronny Cox character from Robocop, and you pretty much got it with Rockwell being like the Bob Morton type.

I think they wanted to stray away from repeating themselves by having an older more experienced businessy-guy villain like Stane. And Venom was a huge fan favorite known among comic-fans and the GA at that, whereas Hammer is pretty low-key, I'd never even heard of him till Rockwell was cast.

But I do think it's kinda funny how they try putting a disclaimer on it in interviews like comic-con, saying things like "we've found a way to create a fresh, original character while still remaining true to the comics". haha, they know exactly what the fans want to hear after so many outbursts from studio execs saying they're "revamping" a character or something along those lines.

I'll have to look that up, and add it to my list or comics I need.

Actually, Busiek's entire run has been on my list of issues to grab for awhile now, and I've just been waiting for Comic-Con to come around because my LCS doesn't have these.

I am glad, that you all guys liked the new trailer.

MARK V WAS FREAKING GREAT! I was right from the beginning, though protocida was right about the full suitcase armor.

Btw, watch this IM2 (Robert Downey appearence on Kimmel): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgByZtbGPeI

I love the look on RDJ face when he puts on the suitcase armor. I think that whole racing scene is going to be stellar.

A lot of that has to do with the fact that Spider-Man has a larger fan base and a lot of fans think Venom is a great character so they considered it blasphemy when he was physically altered.

With Iron Man, the movie increased his fan base. A good number of the people who didn't really know about him or hadn't read many of his comics got interested after seeing the film. I think because a good number of new fans didn't know all of his history or rogues gallery yet when they announced Hammer as a villain they were like "Who?". Much like how a lot of people were laughing about how lame of a villain Whiplash would be even though he's pretty damn good in the comics.
