Honestly, Busiek's run made me believe this character could work as a movie because Busiek and Chen just gave it this sort of sleek, modern and Hollywood movie type of look.

Hmmm, this is the mystery drone with the different legs from the "I hope you're ready" bit of the new trailer. Looks like just a drone after all, there's a few of this type and a few with rocket pods on the shoulders.

I'm just guessing, but it seems like maybe Vanko is controlling these and that's maybe him communicating via radio.

And that's STRICTLY a guess.

I wonder if Hammer's military contract is specific to the Navy since it says NAVY on one of the drones.

I remember the briefcase thing from the comics, my main issue was that it looks fake. Which is odd, because the SFX are obviously great. And yet... because I know it's not really happening my brain won't allow me to accept it.

Ah well. Not exactly a deal breaker.

Well I've posted pics of the standard foot soldier drone and the missile drone, the big arse cannon one is in this scene as well, you just see it's big arse cannon in the distance as Tony turns round and replusors it into oblivion.

There are 3 types of drones. The army, the navy and the marines

I love the villains that are the exact opposite of the hero. See Spiderman/Venom, Batman/evil Batmen in Morrison's run, Bruce Wayne/Hush, etc so i love how Hammer is essentially an evil Tony Stark.

Except his character's a little more "plucky comic relief" according to Rockwell, which I could definitely see. Kind of a weenie who's a Tony Stark wannabe but just falls short in every way- not quite as bright, not quite as quick-witted, not quite as charismatic, and it leaves him bitter.

I don't actually believe that line is from that specific bit of the film. I think they have just put it there to mislead us.
Personally i think that the drones are just a starter.
Then Whiplash will come in with his new armour and beat up War Machine (after all this is Iron Man?!) Then Whiplash and Iron Man will have a final battle.

I think the 'I hope you are ready' line is from the Monaco prison cell scene. Just seems to fit there. Because as Whiplash says 'all i have to do is sit here and watch as the world consumes you' then he probably says 'I hope you are ready'

Or the line could be taken from a completely different scene all together. Tried and true technique of trailer editing.

I know it's too early to cry foul but I can't help but notice that there's been no sign of war Machine's missile launcher yet in any actual movie footage or stills. I'm not freaking out, the toys have it and they've been pretty accurate so far, I'm just dying to see it in action. It just isn't the full war Machine experience without the complete portable armoury. :d

It could just be the WM armour has alot of added features that add height to the wearer, more than that of the MK2.

He did seem to be working on the triangle reactor with the particle accelerator, unless it was some other thing he was doing.
