Another street closed for Transformers 3

Van Buren Street will remain closed to traffic this morning between Wacker Drive and Canal Street due to filming of the Transformers 3 movie, officials said.

The street was closed at 5 a.m. Monday and won't be fully reopened until 10 p.m.Wednesday. At least two lanes will open from 3p.m. to 7 p.m. for evening rush hour traffic.

For a brief period between the hours of 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., helicopters will be used along the Chicago River for aerial photography.

Well, they're now shooting on Wabash. They were actually building something for the movie in the alley next to my job, it looked like a giant doorway and all the garbage cans were cleared out of the area.

What was funny was that right at the top of the doorway it said "Mikaela's Alley"

in the downtown area near Wabash & Washington.
Disruption to traffic will be minimal.

--North Side of Randolph: Garland to Wabash
--South Side of Washington: Michigan to Wabash
--North Side of Madison: Michigan to Wabash
--South Side of Washington: Wabash to State (8am-6pm Aug 26 only)

As of yesterday afternoon, the set at the old Post Office on Van Buren was active. It looked like they were filming later in the evening as the bridge was closed off to pedestrian traffic as of 4:30. I had to catch a train, but I assume they filmed last night and will continue over the weekend. The weather is clear so it's good shooting weather. Earlier in August, this set was broken down and then quickly reset so I'm assuming these are some pick-up shots.

any info on if theyll be back in the city i live 15-20 mins away by train and i wanna catch the filming ive been to canal street many times as a skateboarder back in the day but i missed the date completely

Old Post Office set still up as of this morning. No sign of it being broken down and no sign of filming this morning. Wouldn't be surprized if they do additional filming over the Labor Day weekend as the weather is predicted to be perfect.

It looks like the Old Post Office Set has been broken down as of this morning. The HHS truck trailers in the back are gone as is the pill box at the front. Looks like no filming there this weekend and it's a wrap for that location.
