Default Corp Lex or President Lex?

Now that we have offical confirmation on Nolan being producer/godfather/mentor of this new film, it makes us all wonder if Lex will be in this film, which version of him would he do?

Now, I know everyone wants Corp Lex over the ciminal mastermind that we've gotten in the past films, but what if Nolan decides to go even further and make Lex the President?

I think it would really be interesting to see Nolan start with President Lex, instead of just regular Lexcorp Lex. It would give Superman a lot more to deal with if he had to against the government. Nolan did say, this will not be the origin again (thank you, Chris Nolan!)... so, i'm really hoping if Lex is back, they'll take him in that route.... Anyone else agree?

Start as Corporate Lex. And if the series continues work him up to President.

I actually dont know if they'd ever do President Lex if the world around Superman is to be realistic, afterall Lex is a criminal in Corporate or not, he is always involved in crimes and there's only so much that could be covered up.

Corporate Lex at first, then as his frustration with Superman increases, he decides to run for a higher office. Maybe congressman at first, then he works his way up.
Imagine someone with the money of a bill gates being president. Now imagine that person having it in for you.
He would not only be the richest man in the world, but he would command its best military and he would also have groups like the FBI and CIA at his beckon call.
They could make life he11 for Superman's friends.

for me i want to see him start out as corp lex with political aspirations in the first film. Then in the second have him run for mayor/senator. Then in the third film become president and then at the end he is taken down and the world learns how evil lex really is.

The President Lex thing comes with a lot of extra Baggage though. It just opens up a whole can of worms.

You get some people out protesting the movie thinking they are taking political sides an all.
These days that stuff can become such a mess.

If they can pull it off without a giant controversial label by all means, but it seems everything on the news these days is either a disaster, or more often, politics.

Thatís a reason I do not think other reporters notice Clark is Superman.

He is not an Earthquake, a War, or a Politician.

I dont care the president would be a great one but I want to just see him not how he is in the films. Cuz Lex is portrayed as a guy who believes Superman is evil and he must do whatever he can to stop him. While Superman thinks Lex is evil and must stop him. So its more of a paradox than Lex is always evil

I don't think Lex should be evil to the core per say, but I do think he should be very indifferent toward people.
He should be the type of person that would walk on by a homeless family that's freezing on the sidewalk, or the type that would watch someone die in front of him while waiting for somebody else to help because he doesn't want to touch them.

Concerning Superman, it should be an obsession with Lex.

Seriously, this whole realism thing is going a bit too far. a.) It's not realism, it's verisimilitude. Huge difference. b.) Right off the bat I can tell you that a man that can fly and has x-ray vision is ten times more unrealistic than a President that covers up his criminal past. c.) There is absolutely NO evidence that Nolan is going to approach Superman the same way he did with Batman. People make Nolan sound like the most ridiculously one-dimensional director when they say stuff like this.

That being said it is way too early for President Luthor. Maybe somewhere down the line, but I'm more interested in seeing Luthor as a businessman first.

They pulled it off in "Justice League Unlimited" and a bit in "Smallville"... I don't see why it would be a problem in a Superman film...

I also think it would be a pretty big twist, since no superhero has really gone through a villain who's in charge of the country he/she lives in.

Corporate Lex has pretty much been done many times on "Superman: The Animates Series", "Smallville" and "Lois & Clark"... I think people get that side of Lex by now.

I also like the idea of him starting out as coporate Lex in the first film, and maybe building him up to President.

I should be very cool to see what Nolan and Co. decide what to do with the character.

this is how i see luthor

I prefer a tony stark type, his fortune was made from his intellect. He's a brilliant inventor who created lexcorp and has become the leader in cutting edge technology. Something like this was done in Birthright, but i wouldn't make him crazy as in that version. I like the way Lex luthor man of steel portrayed him, as a man who truly believes in human potential and that superman ruins it, bc humans start to look to him for hope rather than themselves. He should be someone whose goal is to attain perfection in mind and body. A batman meets ironman sort of thing. Lex would be written as a really deep and interesting character with complex motivations. He hates superman because he exists. He is arrogant and feels like metropolis looked to him as its favorite "son" and that he should be the one inspiring people not some alien disguised as a human.

Anyway I loved the way the Luthors were scholars in the show, always quoting Shakespeare and the like. I also enjoyed the allusions to Alexander the Great. I would definitely borrow some from his portrayal on Smallville.

I'd have him start the film as corporate lex. After brainiac's invasion in the first film people are weary and concerned, The World as a whole feels we as humans need to be prepared for whatever comes next. There would be a schism in the populace, some turning against superman viewing him as just another representative of alien superiority. Lex luthor would start a political campaign on the grounds of human advancement. His message, that we don't need some Alien demigod to protect us, we can't trust him, we as humans need to plot our own destiny, with him to lead the way.

A subplot is the formation of Cadmus and a superhuman arms race. Both the government, led by sam lane, and lex corp are racing to create superhumans. Something like that could work for the second two films of the series. The culmination of the 2nd film would end with lex becoming president.

Well, what are the differences with cartoons, a few episodes of a TV series, and movies?

Movies get noticed by the political motivated media.

You make one of the most well known comic villains of all time into the President of the united states, in a way that really gets noticed, not just for an episode on SV or a cartoon, and some people are going to get pissed, as they see it as an insult to "their guy". OR some will use it as fuel by saying it shows "the other guy" like he reallly is.

Then again, now that I am reading it, the extra media attention may be good for the movie... I did not consider from the other angle.

I would like to see corporate Lex first.

If Superman is turned into a trilogy of films than I would like for Lex to physically change like he did in Superman: Red Son. For 3 films we should see him go from handsome and brilliant scientist with a full set of hair to a bald and slightly mad scientist who is clearly the smartest man on the planet but is consumed by his hatred of Superman. The camp of the Donnor/Singer films should be avoided.

President Lex. Because its something new and unpredictable. It would certainly cause a new type of reason why Lex would hate Superman.

Here is Superman, a God among men and adored by many. Lex takes his role as President too far, gaining a dangerous messiah complex. Lex distrusts Superman and his intentions, and hates him for being his rival as the worlds most powerful man.

He immediately voices his distrust to the Man Of Steel, which caues Superman to be regarded as a potential threat to the world. So President Luthor devises ways to rid himself of Superman.

You could create 1 movie about Superman battling the worlds most powerful and influential man, which he takes the honor of by the end. Then battling the most powerful forces in the galaxy, and maybe a disgraced Lex later on. Like Nixon and Bush.

as i said i rather start with corp lex and show how he craves power and control over things. And build up his hatred for superman. But play up the whole he seems like a great guy out in the public as a way of stroking his ego and stuff like that. Then we see his rise in power and control. Then in the final film of new series see him be beated and taken down and lose everything that meant something to him. So then if their was more films after say a 3 picture deal. Then they could play up the angle of him being the criminal genius type of character then.

In a realistic sense,Lex wouldn't be able to run for President if he was outed as a criminal. Could Donald Trump if he committed the same atrocities?

well that is why they could go with lex having that clean image in public but only certain folks like lois/clark-superman know he is reall evil. But with his power and influence they can never pin lex to a single crime. So the public thinks he is the clean guy and that is how he takes over.
