I hope the 3D isn't a huge distraction or anything. AND I hope they tone down some of the touch screen stuff on the DS in the future. I have big beefy hands and can barely see when I have to use the touch screen

Yeah, I feel Nintendo may be the less gimmicky of ALL the systems with their 3D...

Nintendo's official website for Nintendo World 2011, next month's public showing of the 3DS in Japan, has been updated, now highlighting the full list of games to be shown during the Tokyo event. Playable versions of everything from MGS3: Snake Eater to Pilotwings Resort will be on hand, though, bizarrely, some demos that were playable at this year's E3 will be for display only, including Starfox 64 3D.

Nintendo has also announced that the 3DS will make an appearance at next month's World Hobby Fair (also in Japan) and at two Japanese outlet shopping centers, according to 1UP. We suspect you'd find the shortest lines at those outlets, but, personally, we'd rather take our chances at the Makuhari Messe event to check out the long list of titles (found after the break) than watch a few demos at the local Uniqlo.

Nintendo World 2011 - 3DS Titles

[Bold indicates playable, * indicates working titles]
  • Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D "The Naked Sample"
  • Pro Evolution 3D Soccer
  • Street Fighter IV 3D Edition
  • Resident Evil Revelations
  • Dynasty Warriors Chronicle
  • Dead or Alive Dimensions
  • Ridge Racer 3D
  • Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle
  • Nintendogs + cats
  • Kid Icarus: Uprising
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
  • Steel Diver
  • Pilotwings Resort
  • AR Games
  • Nintendo 3DS Camera
  • Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D
  • Super Monkey Ball 3D
  • Kingdom Hearts 3D*
  • Gundam The 3D Battle
  • Tales of the Abyss
  • One Piece Unlimited Cruise SP
  • Cubic Ninja*
  • Puzzle Bobble 3D
  • Pro Baseball Family Stadium 2011
  • Animal Resort*
  • Xevious
  • 3D Bijin Tokei*
  • Starfox 64 3D

From Nintendo World 2011 :

It's Smash Bros 3DS (not officially annouced, don't know the title)

- Selection screen looks like Brawl's
- Character's images are smaller than on brawl
- Not the same order

I wanted to believe, due to the little changement, but in fact, it's just SSBB when you first play the game. So disappointing

Was a price announced for the 3DS? The people at Kotaku act as if the 300 dollar price tag is set in stone. I just don't see that happening. People are already complaining that the 3DS games are 60 bucks in Japan but they're forgetting that DS games were also about 20 bucks more expensive in Japan then they were in NA....

So.. I don't know why people ever base things on Japanese prices.

The official numbers are three to five hours playing per game, or five to eight if playing an older DS title (and up to three hours 30 minutes to fully recharge). So... three to eight hours under the most ideal circumstances.
Battery Life recap, using official Nintendo numbers:

Original DS: 10-14 hours
DS Lite: 15-19 hours
DSi 9 to 14 hours
DSi XL 13 to 17 hours
3DS: 3-8 hours.

Ouch. I was probably going to wait for the 3DS lite anyway, but this kinda seals it.

That's true, but usually the prices of the system aren't that far off. I think the difference between the NA and Japanese prices for most of the other systems were only off about $50. As someone said, though, Nintendo might want to shallow the hit and make sure the casual market bites, but I don't know, I could see the price not being all that different.

Game prices tend to be a little wonkier in Japan also. I think there is kind of this set standard price, like in NA, but it's not unheard for companies to jack prices up on games they know will sell way more than they should. I think DQIX ended up costing like $90 or something, just because Square knew that would sell like hotcakes.

Eh... I'm never on a portable for more than 3 hours anyway, lol. I also mostly play portables at home because we don't travel all that much....and when we do I drive.

So... I'll just plug it in.

As for a 3DS Lite... I'm not entirely sure how they could improve the design. I know.... It's Nintendo, but the only reason the DS was redesigned so many times was because the Fat wasn't all that great (design wise) so... it made sense to change it.

The 3DS just looks perfect. I wouldn't be surprised if we never got a redesign on it.... more colors? Sure... But I'm more doubtful about a redesign.

VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

No idea what the video is saying outside of 3D and the occasional Touch and Nintendo. However, it's showing automatic Mii creation creation by using the camera to take your picture, ect.

Kinda neat.

I'm sure the iterations will follow what happened with the DS. It will get thinner, eventually get a bigger/brighter screen, better battery life, more features etc... The leap between the DS lite and the DSi was pretty drastic, I'm sure something like that will happen with the 3DS a few years down the line.

There is always room for improvement, and Nintendo has shown it is not shy what-so-ever about constantly releasing new versions of their portable consoles.

I just saw Jill's character model in Resident Evil Revelations. Dear GOD, that is not Jill Valentine. That is Lara Croft.

At least when she got blonde hair in Resident Evil 5 I could still tell it was her, and even before her kidnapping at Wesker's hands I'd could tell she was Jill with just longer brown hair. The face structure was correct, but the face structure of the Revelations model does not look like Jill.

Eh, there was an in game reason for that though or well at least the developer's gave a reasoning for it. This is clearly Jill before the events of RE5, so why can't she look like she did pre-capture?

Only like 3 of those would sell well here, so I'm curious what the US launch titles will be.
