I understand all that, but the thing is... Marvel is a business. Yeah, these back issues can be hard to find and expensive... but what about the new ones once Gaiman picks up where he left off? Do you think Marvel's going to suddenly drop the book from $5 to $4? No, because people bought it up to that point for $5, so why stop now? People will finish out the series at $5. And when Marvel sees that new issues of an ongoing title with an established readership can sustain $5, they'll start considering if titles like Uncanny X-Men and Amazing Spider-Man can sustain a $5 price tag as well.

Nope... I am from Moncton, and I've probably been with yer Mom... son.

Gaimen has confirmed that issue #25 will be ready to go, and from what I've read in the past, he and Buckingham will finish their story.

That all depends on sales when the new material comes out. I'll bet that Marvel will be greedy about it even if fans start dropping the book but I honestly don't see an immediate trickle down effect for other books that have been consistently published since the 60's.

If sales remain stable, throughout to the end of Gaiman's finished run, that'll be all the proof they need than a book with an established readership can support a $5 price tag.

I'm waiting on the hardcover or omnibus but it's going to be great to own physical copies. Can't wait for Gaiman to finish his story.

so what all is involved with restoring the art? Does Marvel own the original proofs? Or are they working off of printed copies?

It could be original proofs or some other form. Whatever it is I'm sure they are using a seriously mean scanner and some awesome digital restoration software.

I wanted to skim it at the very least (I'll probably get the trade since I've already read Moore's run) but my shop didn't get any in. Maybe next week.

I got it. It was reprints, but good stuff. I noticed some changes, eliminating the nudity from the original books. I wonder what they plan on doing with the birth scene and rape of Kid Miracleman?

Did they censor it in the print edition? I read on Bleeding Cool that it was only the digital version?

The birth scene is gonna be intense. I hope they don't censor it, otherwise what's the point? What are they gonna do when they get to issue 15?

Anyways, I decided to pass on the first issue, though I may go back to it. The coloring job is fantastic, but I didn't care to spend 6 bucks on an issue whose half was a reprint of the Marvelman Primer that Marvel put out a while ago, filled with reprints of 50's Marvelman comics that no one cared about.

I'll probably skim through the future issues to see what content they reprint just to see what Marvel's doing with it. It sounds like they're reprinting the two Warpsmith stories from Warrior that later tie into Miracleman, along with the Miracleman story from the Warrior Summer special which Eclipse didn't reprint. I also wonder if they'll reprint, in color, the 3D special, which is important to the origin issue which presumably will be in issue 5.

I'm probably gonna trade-wait on these. I have the whole Moore run in it's original form, and all but 3 of the Gaiman run. So I'll probably collect the series once Gaiman resumes writing it again.

Yeah, I saw that they were only going to edit the digital versions. I don't care for nudity in my comics, so I was kinda hoping they WOULD edit the printed versions.

I hope they don't censor the trades. I considered picking this up yesterday but decided I'd wait. Miracleman is one of those books I've read about so many time but have never actually read. I'd really like to give it a try but I'll be upset to learn if some of the more controversial aspects are removed. I could care less about nudity but if they take out some of the violent stuff or anything that's important to the story, I might be less motivated to eventually pick it up.

I'm all for covering it all up. I'm a pretty PG-13 sort of guy.

Sex and nudity never really bother me unless I'm reading in public or someone else looks through my comics. I had the first trade of Saga the other week from my library, a friend of mine flipped through it then asked me how many more of my comics featured Robot Sex.

That's fine. But if they pull this stuff for issue 9 and 15, it's not so much censoring as it is defacing. Same for some of the later Gaiman issues.

If the trades are censored then I'm not buying. I'll be fine with continuing to bootleg this whenever If feel like reading it. There are companies that are far better at reprinting older material than Marvel, or DC for that matter, that I wished got the rights for Miracle/Marvelman.

I have all the original issues bound in a hardcover so I'm not buying the reprinted issues but if they release a uncensored omnibus I will definitely buy it.

I really don't get why they'd censor these. The point of the series was a deconstruction of the regular superhero comics. They made it graphic to help demonstrate that.
