There's so many different directors that can take a (hopefully) new interpretation of Batman that you can have Cuarón, Yates, Vaughn, and others that can be perfect for the job.

Like with the comics, whatever the reboot may be, it will hopefully show little flashbacks of Bruce's origins that isn't the main focus of the entire story.

I think they should get someone who's done CBM's before if they are going for more DC Comics related stories. That is, of course, if the reboot will be the launch of the DCCU leading into JLA

I think Wes Anderson should do the next one.
Batman: What kind of bird are you? Robin: I'm a Robin, she's a bat-- Batman: No. What kind of bird are *you*? Dinah Lance: *aroused* The End. |

I would like the new director to adopt new villains, instead of reviving ones who have already had screentime. If they used Dr. Hurt ( and well) I could die a happy fan.
My list (outside of Hurt): Professor Pyg, Court of the Owls, Clayface, Reaper/ Andrea Beaumont, Rupert Thorne, Mad Hatter ( think of the psychedelic visuals!) Phosphorous Man, Hugo Strange ( Englehart's version,) Man-Bat........and/ or Hush (Dini's iteration.) |

It's hard for me to imagine the next film series being another origin story, which means that Batman will be well into his career at the start of the film. I don't think the next Director will try to continue with Nolan's realistic take, but will opt for a more over the top action/comedy oriented film in the Vein of Iron Man and the other Avengers related films. I wouldn't be surprised to see Robin in the next film along with some other Villians that haven't been portrayed on film. Personally I think Ventriloquist would make a awsome villian. I was expecting to see him in TDKR. But Bane is pretty cool too.

After this trilogy, I really just want good, solid Batman movies. They don't have to top the TDK trilogy, they just have to be enjoyable and set up a Justice League movie well. As for a director, I really don't know who I'd choose. I'd like a striking visual style, but a good story as well. Guillermo Del Toro, maybe? He could definitely handle the more "fantastical" villains. His schedule might be more open once it's time to reboot as well!

Nolan seems to have explored the beginning and end of Batman's career pretty definitively. But that means there's plenty of room to play around with in between, if they're clever they could write it so it fits with Nolan's continuity if the viewers want it to... but doesn't hinge on it so not to alienate a new audience.

Personally, I would love to see a series of animation movies tied to the Nolanverse. Something like Gotham Knight (though that wasn't completely my cup of tea), but with a consistent team of directors/writers/animators and the original actors voicing the characters. While I still don't know how TDKR ends, I'm sure there are many ways to make something like this work.

Uh Peter Berg, Obviously! Look at the chops - The Rundown, Hancock, Battleship...need I say more?
Seriously, Cuaron is the most interesting choice but I'm going to throw out a real wild card.........Ben Affleck? |
