Th Wink How do you want the transformation from Banner to Hulk, to look?

Now that we're getting a re-make off shorts. How do you guys want the transformations to look? I thought the transformations in Angs Hulk sucked. It just looked like a guy 'inflating'. I'd rather have Banner in excrutiating pain, seeing his bones and muscles ripping and breaking as the metamorphises transpires. I envisison his transformations into the Hulk as something terrifying, somewhat like America Werewolf in London's was......

Great thread!!!

The transformations should be suspensefull and intense. They should make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. They should emphasize that Banner is helpless despite his struggle to fight the transformation. When Banner is transforming you should get not only excited but a little scared. When Bill Bixby's eyes got white-green and he had that crazed expression on his face it was a spectacle to behold. You got that "awww s--t, it's about to go down" feeling.

The Hulk tv series handled transformation much better than Ang Lee and it was done over 40 years ago.

Oh jeez I have no idea now that you mention it. I didn't mind that "inflating" but I would prefer something more intense, something that really shows that the Hulk is in control and Banner is losing all control of the situation.

I want the world around Banner to turn green and yellow while the camera rotates around him. As the transformation takes place he falls to the ground and we see his fingers turn and digg into the ground. In the end he banges his fists together and roars.

In other words it should happen just like it did in the 80s cartoons

Btw, Im kidding.

Id like the actor to look more like he was in pain all over his body rather then like he was constipated.

I liked the transformation in Ang's movie, with Bruce screaming and trembling..
Moreover, I think that the transformation scenes don't have to be too long... 'cause this could make the movie too slow.
The first T. Scene: suspencefull, intense... then just let imagine it and go ahead!

I have to admitt, the movies transformations did not do it for me. Thats the one place where the TV series really was ahead of it's time. Even though the Hulk was always pretty cool, to see there was this sense of dread the TV series created in his rise at times..of course at times we where chearing him on..helping to heal Banners Broken spine ect ect... but oftne it was a case Where Banner wanted no part of the Anger no part of the trasformation.

There was a sense of Panic...not Pain, and it that you had true greatness.

but also the sense of pain is very important... in comic books Bruce screams for pain... the transformation is very painfull for him, 'cause his entire body change structure in a few seconds!

Yeah, def painful but with CGI... Mostly, it has to be! but a good transition that happens quickly with an intense eye shot would be good! It should end with a fist pounding ROAR!! The pants should be more shredded to the extent of the HULKs size too... However it has to look to expand to the adequate size with tears etc... None of the expanding pants unless he's wearing something adequate in size like the bathing suit was a pretty cool idea for part...

Once the anger threshold is reached( signalled by the eyes of course ), the actual transformation should be explosively fast, perhaps even releasing a shock wave effect. I believe this is necessary as quite simply Banner / Hulk is rather vulnerable during a prolonged event.

Banner's scream of tormented pain rapidly becomes the rage driven roar of The Hulk. That inhuman scream / roar hopefully becoming a signature sound effect( ala Chewbacca's bellow).

Perhaps the first transformation could be revealed in "bullet time", oh lets say a security camera films it and it is later reviewed by Banner or others in super slo-mo, which would allow for the reveal of the details of the incredible and horrible physical event that violently transforms Banner to The Hulk, (" My god, what must that do to an individual." "No wonder he's pissed.") satisfying the "fan boy" in all of us. However subsequent transformations should be in real time and explosively quick!

The movie transformations were much better than the TV show. I'd like to see the Bixby contacts, but the rest of the TV show "Special" effects (for example, a painted green foot being forced into a pre-cut, too small shoe) I can do without.

I don't see this pain idea...

The hulk is a liberation of frustration and built up rage.

Does anyone ever go through pain when they get angry or finally release some tension? Nah, they absolutely love the release...

Bruce should get caught up in the anger and then realise that perhaps it's been taken too far, have a slight look of guilt before the hulk takes over with a slight sinister look of glee, that he's finally been let out...

it should be a mix of losing control, going over the edge and release..

I don't see where the pain needs to come in personally, becoming an virtually indestructible force of nature shouldn't be too painful an experience. The only real pain we should see is bruce perhaps being made dormant as the hulk comes out...

definitely more rage required but definitely no pain.

It doesn't have to painful but Banner should be fighting to resist it. Turning into the hulk for him isn't a ride at Disney World. He knows if he lets go people will get hurt.

Also the Bill Bixby white eyes and crazed expression revealed that the transformation wasn't just physical it was also psychological.

why don't we use the comics as a reference point rather than another form of media which had its own intepretation on events.

Because the tv show was a great adaptation of the comic book transformations.

But just because someone has done it one way doesnt make it gospel

This is like how the animated take on how the symbiote/venom came around is now being used as a means to base the next film off. Now everyone starts thinking the symbiote has a negative effect on one's personality when its not the case at all, and its filtered into other forms of media and other regions of the comics (616 and also ultimate).

i say stick to the comics, they aren't doing an adaptation of the old tv show, there's so much more to the character that isn't really shown in those tv shows.

wtf? Nobody said to adapt the damn tv show. We just referenced the tv show as a good example of live action Hulk transformations.

I want to use the comics as a reference point(despite I like the "eyes" idea, used in the first movie too) and in the comics the transformation IS painful

The rise of the Hulk due to the anger is NOT a release of tension. The Hulk is the negative result of the tension. Kinda like one would have a stroke, heart attack or pop a blood vessel if their blood pressure sky rocketed up to the point where the body can't take it any more. That's what the Hulk is, the rage UNLEASHED! Hulk is the embodiment of the anger, the stress and the rage. Only when that tension is released does Hulk reverts back to Banner. You've got it backwards.

I want to see his skin pealing off and the cracking of his muscles as they grow. I want to see him yelling and crying. I want it to look like he is in pain and angry at the same time.

at the start of your post you are, disagreeing with me and by the end you are pretty much saying the same thing i am.

tension=built up rage

hulk is the embodiment of this

when rage is gone, so is hulk (well thats the way it used to be)

based on this, what is wrong with what i've said because you've said exactly teh same thing and said i've got it backwards

In your post it came off like you were saying the Hulk is 'release of the tension' like a 'relief' to it, when in fact he IS the Tension.

But if we're saying the same thing, then
