Another fancast...

James Caan for Morrow - he's old but could've been a detective when Anderson was a boy.

Just read #4 - Interesting twist...

I wonder which movie will be produced first - Nemesis or Superior.

I just read all issues. It was a nice little mini. Nothing spectacular, but nothing utter **** either.

I just have a feeling they don't have the balls to go as extreme with the movie version. They'll probably go for PG-13, and Tony Scott already talked about how he'll use a lot of CGI, while the material isn't really CGI heavy at all.

I have a hard time to believe too if Fox is letting this be R-rated. It' s nice that Tony is switching up and not doing another movie that feature trains.

^ Hehe, yeah, trains! Tony Scott loves trains! I bet Tony Scott was sold on doing Nemesis just to film the opening pages of issue one involving that...train!LOL!

What’s the progress on the movies that we already know about, how are Nemesis and Superior coming along?
The Superior movie should hopefully get made public in the next couple of weeks. I was told it would be before the end of January, but it’s kind of out of my hands to be honest. It’s funny, in comics you just sort of ask Joe Quesada ‘can I announce this Ultimates series I’m doing?‘ and Joe would be like ‘aye, no problem, on you go‘, whereas in movies it’s weird – everything has to go round a hundred people. Whenever you hand over the rights to something it becomes not your news to give. I obviously knew about Tony Scott directing Nemesis before it was made public but I kind of had to sit on my hands and say ‘very exciting, but we just can’t tell you who it is yet‘. I remember actually at the time it was going to be within the next couple of days and it ended up taking three weeks before everything got signed off and I was like ‘come on…‘ Superior hopefully will be announced in the next week or so, fingers crossed. The deal was done a little while back and I’m very pleased with the team that seems to be assembling around it. The screenwriter’s started putting a few things together on it and their previous work has been pretty amazing. Likewise, the Nemesis screenplay with Tony Scott is being written now. All going well, this should be in production before too long, but it’s going to be a month or two before they have a Nemesis first draft to really look at.
And do you wait until the script’s finished before casting’s sorted out?

Yes. Tony said to me when we were phoning each other about it all ‘who can you see in the roles?‘ and we were chatting about that, but they obviously need to have the script ready before this proceeds beyond speculative conversation. They have to show the script to the actors because nobody’s going to agree to a movie until they know exactly what they’re saying. Things can get modified later, but they need to see at least a good first draft. I think that’ll go quite fast. The guy we’ve got writing Nemesis is a really interesting choice, because normally it’s roughly the same guys or same kind of guys that write superhero movies, but Tony thought ‘I’ll get someone who can do really brilliant character stuff‘, and this guy’s a character writer. Tony said ‘I’ll take care of the digital effects and make it look really exciting and this guy can handle the character stuff‘. It’s going to be a really interesting combination. Nemesis will be quite unlike anything else. It’s Tony Scott!

I'm excited about the prospect of a Nemesis film, but I do feel talk of a film was rather sudden. It was like two issues and BAM movie. I do want this, though, IF it can be done in a way that honors the gritty source material. Alhough I enjoyed the film adaptation of Kick-Ass, I was extremely disappointed with the aspects that were altered.

Mark Millar Builds Marvel Movies At Fox & Beyond

"The idea is to finish Kick-Ass 2 in December and start production on 'Secret Service' a few months later, and we have a few others that will be filming around the same time," he said. "I can't tell you the titles, but they're books that are already up and running. One is being written now, and the other just finished the screenplay. And 'Nemesis' was bought by Fox in 2010 with plans for Tony Scott to direct, though that didn't work out as Tony passed away, but now it's been passed on to a friend of mine named Joe Carnahan who was mentored by Tony. He's done a lot of work with Scott Free Productions like 'The Grey' this year. So Joe and his brother Matt are working on the screenplay for 'Nemesis' looking to shoot towards the end of next summer, and we've got some cast in mind for it. And there's one other project that's been sold to Fox that will likely be announced as 'Untitled Mark Millar Project' because we don't want to give too much away."

But there is one project fans won't be hearing anything about in Hollywood terms for a long while to come. "It's weird that all these Millarworld projects have been sold as films already, but the one I want to hold onto is 'Jupiter's Children,'" he explained of the book currently in production with artist Frank Quitely for Image Comics. "That book and 'Nemesis 2' will come out around March or April next year, and I'm not going to let 'Jupiter's Children' be sold as a film until I've finished the last issue. I'm going to write the entire ten to twelve-issue series before that. I'm on issue #4 at the moment, and I'll not allow anyone to consider putting in an offer. We've had people getting in touch about the rights, but I've told my agent not to look at any offers at all. This is probably my most commercial project ever, and it'll probably be the biggest seller. I'm very protective of how I want this to be done. I just want it complete, so I can hand it over and tell them to be very faithful with a movie adaptation."

Mark Millar's thing seems to be creating series based around getting them made into movie concepts, yeah. Like that is a major goal of his with his comic books post-Kick Ass' success. He's pretty much stated this.

Carnahan being on it makes me think they are going to try to get Liam Neeson as Morrow.

Is Morrow a super-cop type character like Neeson in Taken or Unknown or just inexplicably badass everyman like Neeson in The Gray?

Itís like Pygmalion meets James Bond which is all about a young London rioter who gets mentored by a James Bond figure and turns into one of the greatest secret service agents. Heís told to get rid of his JJB sports clothing, things like that and taught about food and fine wine and how to be like James Bond. Itís Pretty Woman for boys essentially. At the end of the year Iím doing a movie called Nemesis for Fox based on a book I did last year like what if Batman was a bad guy? Like a billionaire who does terrible things in a costume. Itís non-stop.

More of the clean cut, by the book type. Super honest, James Gordon meets Hank Hill.
