He just disrupts the flow. Stark and Pepper try to work on the chemistry and the kiss, in comes the douche bag. Tense scene with Fury laying down the law to Tony along with BW, only to be baby sit by Coulson afterward. Tension gone. I get that he's supposed to be comic relief. It just gets annoying after a while.

Whatever... I'll be partying once he gets killed off. Avengers needs the most screen time it can get. Unless they kill him off in a 2 minute scene, I'll be good with that. Otherwise don't have him show up. Probably gonna cheese up the Earth scenes in Thor I'd assume.

Not when there is an Avengers movie due out and the lead guy from this is expected to be in it and possibly be the star yet again.

Then it's a case of poor execution. If this stuff is so vital it needed to be handled better, the story needed to be built around it, not make way for it.

Just got back from the movie and I do agree with others that in the middle the film just kind of gets jumpy in a way but I didn't find the SHIELD scenes all that bad.
I do think they could have left out Black Widow though. They should have just introduced her in the Avengers film. |

Why isn't it?
Kevin Feige said that the goal was to make the Avengers. However they thought it would be a good idea to establish the characters first. |

The SHIELD scenes were just fine, in my opinion. In terms of plot, I would not call the mere presence of SHIELD one of Iron Man 2's flaws.

Also, introducing her in the Avengers movie would have let the character have much more room to do stuff. I thought Black Widow was cool in this film, but she wasn't necessary.

But why? She was perfect for the job. Tony would instantly make her his assistant because she is hot and she would have access to everything.

I dont say leave her out...The fight scene seemed a lil...pushed in though but I was happy with it cause there really wasnt much action anywhere else...

We finally get Movies by Marvel, where several superheroes and characters inhabit the same world and there are nothing but complaints. It's mind boggling.

or all the time that was spend to even get to Vanko? you know the scene where she tells Hogan to get to the car,in the car, showing how she changes her clothes, showing a very long scene how they go from the car to the building. those scenes belong on the cutting floor. in no way are those scenes important for the final cut. |

As for the scenes with Happy, i liked them. They were funny and they disrupted the relentless action of robots fighting in the dark with a more comedic fighting scene in the light. The end fighting scene would otherwise be 15 minutes explosions non stop. In addition, BW and Happy also upped the pressure with us worrying how soon can BW reboot WM because he and IM kill each other. Its that you hate this film with a passion so you'd hate anything in it.

simple question since SHIELD is so important to IM where were they in the first movie? you know where all the big danger was happening? or where were they when Hulk was happening?
you know why we didnt see them? because in 2007 when those movies were made they didnt want to force them through IM. back then they wanted to tease fanboys but still let Tony has hes own franchise. |

Watch IM again. SHIELD is clearly in it, revealing themselves at the end.

Indeed, Coulson has a reoccuring presence in the first film, and even leads a team of SHIELD agents into an attempt to take Iron Monger down.

those idiotic small agents with not experience? this is SHIELD?in IM2 they looked like they are bigger .
in IM they gave IM and Tony space to breath. in IM2 it was decided to be a big introduction for Avengers. if Avengers bombs and fails as a movie then they are pointless in IM2. |

Maybe for Iron Man 3 they should just have a camera on RDJ. No Pepper, no Rhodey, no Mandarin, just a 2 hour movie of Tony Stark eating, flying around in the suit and going to the crapper.
For part 4 they should just have a head shot of him, a two hour head shot. Maybe thay would stop all the whining and moaning.
