Lost Dimension Looks Like An RPG Inspired By Shin Megami Tensei IV

. April 16, 2014 . 11:00pmLost Dimension takes place in the near future, where the world is in ruins. You’ll be playing as a member of a secret service group called S.E.A.L.E.D., and will be taking on the task of investigating a giant pillar that appeared out of nowhere.

Japanese game studio Lancrese, known for helping out on the development of the first Etrian Odyssey and Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey will be working with Gravity Rush artist and the writer of the Persona 3 movies for the recently announced Lost Dimension. Famitsu shares more on the upcoming RPG.

Lost Dimension takes place in the near future, where the world is in ruins. You’ll be playing as a member of a secret service group called S.E.A.L.E.D., and will be taking on the task of investigating a giant pillar that appeared out of nowhere.

The above is a mysterious man, known as “The End,” an international terrorist who appears in the pillar. He goes around causing massacres and destruction wherever he goes, while waiting for the end of the world. He’s the reason the United Nations put together a competent group of S.E.A.L.E.D. in order to arrest him.
Sho Kasugai is the 18 year-old protagonist of Lost Dimension, with a special ability called “Vision” that allows him to foresee events before they happen. After using this ability to save people from a mass destruction, he was chosen to be a member of S.E.A.L.E.D.
Yoko Tachibana is a 17 year-old high school girl who works hard for her dreams of becoming a singer. She has the gift of telepathy, but she actually hates it, and only uses it when it’s needed.

Additionally, this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine has the following slogan for the game:
11 psychics with MATERIA venture into a mysterious power to stop “THE END”: an agent of the apocalypse.

The magazine also gives us a closer look at the pillar, that seems to be located in the middle of New York City, which seems to have been long deserted.

It also seems like The End has more on his agenda than ending the world, as he considers the fight against S.E.A.L.E.D. to be nothing more than a game. He seems to have already decided on the death of a certain member of S.E.A.L.E.D., and he also mentions that there’s a traitor among them.

There’s also a member of the group who was originally sentenced to an execution, so there might be some uneasy feelings going on with the group, especially after learning about the traitor.

Lost Dimension is currently in development for PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3.

Lost Dimension Introduces Two New Heroes… Or Potential Traitors And Sacrifices. May 22, 2014 . 4:09am

Himeno Akatsuki has combustive abilities as her special power. Unlike her hot powers, she has quite the cool personality, as she rarely gives much of a reaction by things happening around her.

Quote:

In Lost Dimension, the world could end in 13 days unless the members of S.E.A.L.E.D. can stop the antagonist known as The End from destroying the world, but there will be some sacrifices along the way. Things might get tougher in doing so, as Famitsu shares a look at two new characters.
Touya Olbert has the ability to freely control electricity along with magnetic powers. His grandfather was a well-known figure of the underground society that has influence over the world’s politics and business, which led to Touya getting an elite education from an early age.
Himeno Akatsuki has combustive abilities as her special power. Unlike her hot powers, she has quite the cool personality, as she rarely gives much of a reaction by things happening around her. She often goes on saying that she has no interest in saving the world.

The above is a look at what you can expect to see in the giant pillar. The areas are said to be split into different layers. For example, the first part is a part of a ruin in New York City. The second is called "Memories of the Genesis."

Lost Dimension is slated for release on August 7, 2014 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Lost Dimension is an upcoming RPG by Unchained Blades makers FuRyu, that has a visual novel-like system where your choices will determine the fate of the story and its characters. Producer Hiroyuki Abe recently shared a message for fans looking forward to the game on its official website.
Hello, I’m currently the producer of Lost Dimension, Hiroyuki Abe of FuRyu.

Lost Dimension is a completely new RPG, where friends and enemies change at random, as the developments change as you play along. With various growth and tactical features in the battle system, it’s a title that was fused from a role-playing game’s characteristics as its axis, along with the essence of a “death game’s” world.

The characters who appear in the game aren’t just involved in the life or death of the world, but they’re also putting their lives at risk, as they continue advancing through this game. After having worked with many splendid creators, the time has finally come for you all to try it out.

Please look forward to checking out the heated psychic ability-filled battles, the stages, and playing your very own story.

Lost Dimension is slated for release on August 7, 2014 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Yoko is a 17 year-old high school girl who dreams of becoming a singer. She has a gift of telepathy that she actually hates using, but only uses it out of necessity.
The video starts out with her asking “is it really true, about the traitor?” followed by “erasing a friend? I could never do something like that!” and “I’m tired of singing a requiem. I’d much rather sing something fun!”

She then ends saying, “I don’t think it could make up for it, but let’s survive, all together!” While she might sound encouraging and hopeful, let’s not forget that anyone could end up being the traitor or the one that will be “erased” depending on how you play the game.

Lost Dimension will be released on August 7, 2014 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Unchained Blades makers FuRyu’s upcoming RPG, Lost Dimension, might look like it was inspired by Shin Megami Tensei IV, but its battle system looks like it could be compared to that of the Valkyria Chronicles series. Famitsu shares a look at some action footage.

VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

Protagonist Sho Kasugai and his fellow member of S.E.A.L.E.D. seem to have encountered some robotic-looking foes in what looks like the first layer of the giant pillar that is supposed to be the ruins of New York City.

During the player phase, the characters are shown taking action and fighting the enemies that are within their attacking range. After Himeno Akatsuki uses her “Burn” fire magic, Sho backs her up with an assist attack to finish off the mob.

Yoko Tachibana also looks like she’ll be using her telepathic abilities to use by providing allies with buffs and support. Agito, the other guy in the group looks like he has the ability to teleport, while the cute purple-haired girl named Mana seems to be a powerhouse with attacks like “Cheat Impact”.

The long blonde-haired girl, Nagi, looks like she can float around, but we don’t get to see much of her talent besides her SMG attacks. Sho and Yoko seem like they’ll be more on the balanced side from what we see in the footage.

Once they complete the level, the group of S.E.A.L.E.D. reach a peculiar room. After Himeno calls out the villain named The End, he appears and tells them that the only way they can advance through the room is by “erasing” someone from their group, by their own hands.

The group seems to be against the idea of it, but it doesn’t take long for some sort of automatic voting process to appear. After one of them was erased, the group seem pretty baffled by how it happened, as Touya Olbert realizes that it indeed happened, and due to their decision.

Lost Dimension will be released on August 7, 2014 in Japan for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Lost Dimension’s Neat Strategic Battle Features Explained. June 13, 2014 . 3:21am

In this Lost Dimension video, they show Himeno Akatsuki put her extra beefed-up combustive ability to use and takes out an enemy in one hit… but she also blows up a couple of her teammates, as well.
Quote:

We recently got a look at Lost Dimension’s Valkyrira Chronicles-like (or Sakura Wars, as some of you have mentioned) battle system. While the previous video showed more action, FuRyu’s latest one shares more details behind the actions.
VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

The first part shows us some of the movement and a basic attack. This is followed by the “Assist” feature that automatically occurs when an ally is nearby when you attack. Positioning is also a factor in the assisted attacks.

The “Gift” option is basically the character’s psychic abilities. Each character has their own unique Gift abilities. By acquiring “Gift Exp” in battle, new abilities can be awakened.

The “Refer” feature allows you to select one character to give their turn to another party member. The video demonstrates George using the Refer to pass his turn to Touya, but he gets his turn back from a different party member who also used his Refer action.

Using the Refer could be a great way to continuously have your strongest party member keep attacking in combat. This would also be a nice strategy to keep in mind for characters with other advantages or buffs, as well.

Then there’s the “Berserk” feature that activates when a character’s SAN (MP used for “Gifts”) runs out. When a character goes Berserk mode, they temporarily get a big boost in attack, but will attack all enemies and allies alike.

In the video, they show Himeno Akatsuki put her extra beefed-up combustive ability to use and takes out an enemy in one hit… but she also blows up a couple of her teammates, as well.

Lost Dimension is slated for release on August 7, 2014 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in Japan.

Lost Dimension’s antagonist, The End, wants to destroy the world, but he’ll give mankind a chance to save the planet and their lives by participating in a little game. The latest trailer shows us more on what Lost Dimension is about.
VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

The End starts out by giving a short introduction and explains that the world will end in 13 days from a massive strike of missiles, but it can be prevented should anyone climb to the top and kill him.

We then get brief introductions of the character starting with the protagonist Sho Kasugai who has the gift of vision and the telepathic Heroine Yoko Tachibana. Following is Mana Kawai with the “Accelerate” Gift ability, and Marco Barbato with telekinesis powers.

Toya Orbert looks like he’ll put his attachment on his right arm to good use with his Magnetics Gift, alongside Nagi Shishioka who has the ability to levitate. And we’ve also seen Himeno Akatsuki blow things up with her Pyrokinesis Gift.

George Jackman sounds like he has an interesting Gift of “Psychometry” that allows him to take power from objects. Meanwhile, Zenji Maeda can do something similar, except his Synchronize Gift lets him copy abilities from other people.

We haven’t seen much from Sojiro Sagara, but it’s safe to assume that he’ll heave the healer’s role with his Healing Gift. Agito Yuki is known as the trickster who uses his Teleport Gift to get around with swift movements.

The trailer then shows a look at the cruel system of the mysterious pillar, that will have the group select one member to kill off once they reach certain parts, to be a required “sacrifice” in order to continue on.

Lost Dimension will be released in Japan on August 7, 2014 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. Pre-orders for the game also include an extra costume and an additional quest.

Lost Dimension Looks Like It Has A Neat Battle System. June 27, 2014 . 1:38am

Sho, the protagonist in Lost Dimension, uses a handgun so he can hit one enemy. He also has the ability to see the future, which he uses to do a cool looking ricochet shot.

VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

FuRyu developed dungeon crawlers like Unchained Blades. Their upcoming game Lost Dimension is different since it has a battle system similar to Valkyria Chronicles or XCOM: Enemy Unknown. When it is your turn to attack you can move a character around the map and target enemies with a gun.

Sho, the protagonist, uses a handgun so he can hit one enemy. He also has the ability to see the future, which he uses to do a cool looking ricochet shot. Yoko also carries a handgun and has healing abilities. As seen when Yoko moves on the battlefield, you can deal extra damage if you shoot an enemy’s back.

It looks like positioning Touya is really important. He can hit multiple enemies with his sub machinegun and his Lightning Rod ability zaps nearby enemies. Himeno has a knife, so she has to walk right up to enemies, but she can deal heavy damage with her explosive fire abilities.

Lost Dimension comes out on August 7 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Lost Dimension Shows Off More Abilities From Members Of S.E.A.L.E.D. July 3, 2014 . 2:20am

In Lost Dimension, it’ll be up to the group of psychic youths called S.E.A.L.E.D. to stop The End from destroying the world in 13 days. Each member has their own special ability, and the latest video demonstrates those of Mana, Marco, and George.
VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

Mana Kawai has the psychic ability called Accelerate, which goes hand-in-hand with her martial arts fighting style used to beat enemies to a pulp. The video shows her activating her “Ultimate Mode,” when she glows purple and destroys all the bad guys in vicinity.

Marco Barbato seems to be more on the timid side as far as personality goes, but he can use his Telekinesis ability to pick up enemies and crush them at will, which sounds like it’d be a nice ability to go with his handgun weapon to attack from a distance.

Finally, the katana-wielding George Jackman has the ability of Psychometry, which can be used to take abilities from others. The video shows him using some sort of freezing ability to stop an enemy and finishes it off with a swift slash.

The abilities, called Gifts, all have their own skill trees, which can branch out to more powerful varieties and even evolve into their stronger forms, and it looks like you’ll be able to customize them according to your playstyle and how you see fit.

Lost Dimension Has Players Do Psychic Detective Work To Discover A Traitor. July 7, 2014 . 10:36pm

While climbing up the mysterious pillar to stop The End from destroying the world, you’ll need to erase allies in order to continue going up. The game’s latest trailer shows how that’s done, along with a look at the protagonist Sho Kasugai’s ability to look into the future.

Sho’s Gift, called Vision, helps him look into the future, which will be used for hints on finding the traitor of the group. This ability is activated after every battle, and you can see if there was a possible traitor in the group of characters from the mission.

As shown in the video, you can flip through various groups to activate the “Deep Vision” part, that lets you take a closer look into their thoughts, to see whether they could’ve been the traitor.

However, the Deep Vision ability is also limited on how many times it can be used, so it’ll be important to make sure you get it down right. Additionally, you can question different members of S.E.A.L.E.D. to see their reactions and how they answer the question.

During the Judgment phase, the crew will need to decide who gets erased. At this point, it’s best to pick the traitor, but if things don’t go as planned, an innocent member can also be wrongfully killed.

While we still don’t know what happens if you keep guessing the right or wrong “traitor” on each judgment phase, it’ll likely have an effect on how things unfold in the story of the game, along with the relationship between the members of S.E.A.L.E.D.

Zenji Maeda uses a shotgun as his weapon of choice, to go with his Synchro ability that can be used to copy abilities from other characters, and also used to damage enemies. While he might not excel at a certain type, it sounds like he’d make for a nice all-rounder.

Sojiro Sagara has the Gift of Healing, which lets him act as the healer of the group. He can also take out enemies using his ability with various effects. There are ways to heal, but it seems like Sojiro is the only one who uses it as his main ability.

Nagi Shishioka has the Gift of Levitation, which gives her a ranger-like ability to scout and reach higher grounds. She can also hold her own when it comes to combat by using her gravity-like ability to lift up and crush foes.

Agito Yuki, the trickster, can use his Teleport Gift to get around to various areas, and can even take shortcuts by going through walls. Having him around might be pretty useful for accessing keys and opening doors for the others.

Lost Dimension will be released in Japan on August 7, 2014 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. You can also catch up on the abilities of other members in our previous report.

In Lost Dimension, you’ll take control of 11 members of S.E.A.L.E.D., all who have their own unique abilities and personalities. To give you a better idea on how the battles work, here’s a look at two videos depicting simple tutorial fights and the main mission.
VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

The above video shows a tutorial stage on how the game is played, starting with the player phase demonstrating attacks and a look at Himeno Akatsuki showing her Gift to Sho for the first time.

After defeating the enemies, the group gets together, and this is where you’ll be able to share conversations with different members of S.E.A.L.E.D. You can get to know them better and learn more about recent events.

This second video shows a look at a main quest scenario. This time, it won’t be as easy as the tutorial stage, and will require character Gifts and range be taken into consideration. Some characters act as support types, so their attacking order will also be worth noting.

The “Assist” is a feature that lets characters automatically join in on the attack. For this reason, strategic placement is an important factor in taking on enemies in Lost Dimension.

Another special feature is the “Refer” feature that allows you to select one character to give their turn to another party member. This can be helpful for when you have one character who is barely out of range, and you have an extra support character in the back with a free turn.

Each member of S.E.A.L.E.D. has his or her own unique abilities. You can read up more about them in our earlier report to get a better idea. When the battle is over, each character gets their stats shown for kills, assists, and refers.

Lost Dimension is slated for release in Japan on August 7, 2014 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.
