Anyway, are the First Class going to be middleschoolers or something because he is really young. He looks younger than his age as a matter of fact.

I suggested Aaron to play Cyclop earlier, but no one agreed.
With Professor being much younger than we thought earlier, I don't see why Aaron can not portray Eric. He looks much more mature than his actual age. Also is this a sign that X-men the last stand is being ignored ? |

Why would The Last Stand be ignored?
Because they went to search for Jean when they were in their... I dont know... 40s? |

Yes, that means they had a fall out when they were much older. unless through out the movie, they kept getting older and eventually. James lost all his hair and we assume they will be same as when their character appeared in X-men the last stand.
I just "wish" they do X-men sequel and continue where X2 left off. Seems impossible, but after all the movie can mutate itself into 2 different sequels. |

You bring up an interesting thing. In the first X-Men they say, "in the not too distant future." In other words, the first three movies don't take place in 2000, 2003, and 2006. So, that gives the prequel a lot of breathing room in terms of when it takes place. |

Ignoring sequels is hella tricky. As a matter of fact I think that it can't be done without the movie turning into a huge mess...ala Superman Returns.

That may be, but audiences don't seem to mind much. As for McAvoy's age and casting, I think we may be underestimating just how far back this film takes place.

I'm somewhat confused here. Why is Prof X so young in this?
McAvoy could still pass as a teenager. |

In the movies, are Prof X and Magneto supposed to know each other through their teenage years?

Maybe we'll see Xavier and Magnus from their 20s to their 40s...
Anyway I think McAvoy looks more like a young Ian McKellen than a young Patrick Stewart.

The mentor role should go to someone who looks like he's lived through enough experiences to be wise.
THis guy looks like he's a college sophmore.

maybe they are using McAvoy in flash backs to Prof. X in his 20's?
I cannot believe he will THE prof in the new x-men, if he's the old one then the people he recruites would have to be children in comparison. not bothered that in X-men 3 prof was in his 40's and jean grey was in her early teens, who cares about the old x-men film franchise canon, certainly not me, as far as I'm concerned this is a reboot. |

OMG once again you guys are worrying to much...when McKellen was cast as Magento ppl were complaining because he's "too old, but good actor" or "Magento, should be muscular/strapping like the comics"
this film is going to touch on Charles & Eric's formative years how they met, discovered their powers, formed the school, etc...so of course they are going to age, but its cheaper to higher younger actors and use MAKE-UP, not CGI to age them... I think ppl neeed to ignore X3/XMO only because it was beneficial to those films to use Pat/Ian and de-age them using CGI and cheaper instead of higher actors only for a cameo anywho when stills/posters come out from the cast, you all will be singing a different tune...lol... |

I believe now the movie looks to set in 60's when both were much younger than we thought. we can see Eric and Charles in different country, discovering their power then meet one another in UK where the movie will be set.
He could pass as a 60 year old with proper make up. I think its easier to make people look older than make them younger. |

Interesting. If I had known they were looking for a Xavier in this age-range, I probably would have suggested Cillian Murphy, but McAvoy is a great choice.
Does this mean they'll need a young Magneto as well? If so, my vote goes to Michael Fassbender. |

Their are a lot of people who don't look their age...I'm 23 and still get told I look 18-19...we don't know how long this movie is going to be so for part of this film we're going to see them, probably late 20's, early 30's when the X-Men come in they may be in their late 30s, to 40, so that would put the X-Men in there late teens, 17-19, maybe....its simple math folks...
