I think Legendary can co-fund the third film, but of course, in return they're waiting to see if Crimson Peak delivers.

Also, del Toro has Pac Rim 2 lined up already with a firm date. By then, Pearlman will be pushing 70. I'd say del toro should hand off the movie to one of his buddies. The guy who did Mama for example.

If it came to it and for the movie to be made GDT had to hand it off to someone I would be happy with that, plus, we may get to see Roger then.

I know the feeling. The first 2 are so good, I am just re-reading all of my Hellboy comics at the moment and then am going to watch the movies again.

They are Amazing I highly recommend them. They are a bit different to the movies in that Liz and Hellboy are not an item in the comics but in general they are some of the best I have read.

Never read much of the comics, but loved what i did, had this dark and pulpy aura. Couldn't realy get into the movies though, expecialy the first one, which felt pretty meh to me. I can see the love for Golden Army though, it had these fairy tale like elements that worked realy well.

I liked both but the second is significantly better than the first imo. Del Toro puts much more of his signature style into that one and I think the kind of fantasy that the second has is pulled off better than the style in the first (they wouldn't have to be different in quality based on concept imo).

The only thing I don't like in the movies is Selma Blair. She's not good at all.

I love both personally, both mix elements of the comics and GDT's signature style very well and for anyone who hasnt read the comics I highly recommend the trades, they are amoung the best stuff I have read.

Del Toro said that the budget was beyond the means of Kickstarter. I don't think that's true. It's well worth a shot I'd say. The highest crowdfunded amount yet is at 85 million. They should definitely try. They could get a really decent amount and get studio backing for the rest. I guess it just depends on whether or not Del Toro is up to all that work.

This is a threequel We REALLY need, the first 2 movies are super and the comics have some great stuff that can be adapted and it is right up GDTs alley.

I would love it if they just gave us a badass animated film with all the cast. GDT could get away with doing anything he wanted to do with that.

{EXCLUSIVE} RICHARD JENKINS IN TALKS TO JOIN GUILLERMO DEL TORO’S COLD WAR LOVE STORY “THE SHAPE OF WATER”
The Oscar-nominee is circling Del Toro’s Cold War-era fairytale about a woman who falls for an amphibious man.

Jenkins would be joining Sally Hawkins in the previously untitled project, which is being written by Del Toro for Fox Searchlight. Octavia Spencer and Michael Stuhlbarg are also in negotiations to star.

While details have long been kept under wraps, we’re hearing that the fairytale, set in 1963, centers around Elisa (Hawkins), a mute janitor working at a lab where an amphibious man is being held captive. When Elisa falls in love with the creature, she devises a plan to help him escape with the assistance of her neighbor (Jenkins). The world outside of the lab, however, may prove to be more dangerous for the amphibious man than Elisa could have anticipated.

The film is being produced by Del Toro and Callum Greene. Liz Sayre is the production executive for Fox Searchlight, while David Greenbaum will oversee for the studio.

The story has elements that fans of Del Toro should recognize, namely the incorporation of fantastical elements into a specific time and place in the real world. Pan’s Labriynth, for example, saw an imaginative young girl escaping into the world of a fairytale amid the backdrop of the Spanish Civil War. The ‘amphibious man’ character, meanwhile, echoes Abe Sapien, the amphibious sidekick portrayed by Doug Jones and David Hyde Pierce in Del Toro’s Hellboy.

Jenkins, who was previously nominated for Best Actor at the Oscars for his performance in The Visitor, is best known for his roles in HBO’s Six Feet Under and Olive Kitteridge, comedies like Step Brothers and Burn After Reading, and genre films like Cabin the Woods and Jack Reacher. He’ll next be seen in Rob Reiner’s LBJ.

^ Well... that's some pretty big news about Del Toro's next movie, isn't it? It probably even deserves its own thread.

No way GDT raises the funds for this via Kickstarter. No way. The last Hellboy film cost somewhere around $45 million if I recall. There's a lot of us that'd love to see a Hellboy 3, but I don't think there's $45 million worth of us.
