After all the hullabaloo regarding the departure of Megan Fox (was she fired? Did she quit? Is she insane?), the director announced the much anticipated news on his website:

"I would like for all you S4TE fans to welcome Rosie Huntington Whitely to the world of 'Transformers.' As some of you might know, she's the new female lead in 'Transformers 3.' She's worked with Michael before in his Victoria's Secret 'A Thousand Fantasies' ad. You can view it here and here."

Of course you can Michael. I guess he really wants us to know that she's a model. You can't exactly miss it from the image he uses for his announcement, a semi nude cover shoot of the actress/model from Bazaar Magazine. It's gorgeous, but we get it. She will probably be scantily clad.

I think she looks a lot like Megan Fox. Thoughts?

Instead of only discussing Fox's replacement in the Fox thread, I thought that she deserves her own thread. If she turns out to be awful, we can talk about it here. Personally, I think she looks pretty hot, but there are also plenty of actresses who look hot but can act well. Bay doesn't always make the best decisions (the ROTF twins come to mind), and by casting a Victoria's Secret model to replace Megan Fox, he's taking a big risk, but that's how he rolls.

Well, she's more eye candy, that is a given. And granted, those pics of her did make my wee-wee transform.

But obviously she'll just be there as something for us to gawk at.

Well I dont find her attractive and am not looking forward to seeing her acting 'skills' at all, here's hoping she proves me and a lot of people wrong.

^ I think that's what most of us are hoping.

I can't understand why people can't even entertain the possibility that she may be good. We have no idea what she's capable of so saying, definitively, that she's going to be bad makes no sense. None of us can know for sure, either way, until we actually see the movie.

Why not hire a real actress? You know, one that can act? There are plenty of hot unknown actresses that have studied the craft of drama, that are waiting for their big break. I thought Bay was known for casting unknowns......

I'm interested now if she's gonna be Mikeala's replacement, or a whole new character.

You don't know whether she can act or not. She's probably not that good but you don't know for sure.

Maybe she can act, but what's the point of hiring a non-actresses to act, when there are trained actresses out there, who i'm sure are just as hot, who are waiting for the chance? Hell, with a new comer, you can probably pay them minimum wage (whatever that is for an actress) and get a lot more substance/depth out of the way they deliver the dialogue. If they do decide that Rosie will take over Mikaela's character this is what they might decide to do with her.

Maybe it's just me, but if you take away the Victoria Secret model part (along with the underwear pics) this girl actually looks like the type that Sam could actually get; probably moreso than Mikaela. I mean, I think all of us can agree that she was way out of his league.

what i was getting at is, sure there are other "trained" actresses, but if a director finds the right person for their vision should that take precedence?

i bring up monique because sure she did some tv and stuff before precious and surely there were other "more" trained actress out there but the director felt she fit his vision and it worked out.

I don't get why a few people here are being mean towards her,I think she's cute,but then again some dudes are out of their minds sometimes when it comes to attractive looking girls from time to time. This girl makes my brother's asian looking girlfriends look inferior,but then again I always thought they were inferior looking. Especially the one I dissed on Facebook.
