All the usual choices - Downey, Norton, Jackman.
Don't think Sam Worthington has really done anything astounding yet. Love anything with John Cusack in it also. I also think Brad Pitt is an under-rated actor, so much focus is put on the Jolie relationship that people forget he's actually good at his job. |

I know. This was originally going to be a "favorite actors" thread, but I realized my top list was all dudes. Also, I would add Joseph Gordon Levitt to my list. |

I would see most current movies just because they had these actors:
Jeff Bridges Nicolas Cage George Clooney Russell Crowe Matt Damon Daniel Day-Lewis Johnny Depp Leondardo DiCaprio Robert Downey Jr. Tom Hanks Philip Seymour Hoffman Viggo Mortensen Brad Pitt Sean Penn Mickey Rourke These actors wouldn't necessarily draw me to a movie, but they stand out to me as strong performers: Javier Bardem Josh Brolin Steve Carrell John Cusack Joseph Gordon-Levitt Ryan Gosling Sam Rockwell Gary Oldman (great actor but not always in good movies) J.K. Simmons Michael Sheen Kevin Spacey (same case as Gary Oldman) Christoph Waltz (after IB, he's definitely on the radar) Tom Wilkinson

Well, technically, he's still working. I only remembered him from The Big Lebowski, which is a good enough reason IMO.

Based purely on recent work? I'll mention the films that I enjoyed their performances in:
Michael Fassbender (Hunger, Inglourious Basterds, Fish Tank) Robert Downey Jr. (Zodiac, Tropic Thunder, Sherlock Holmes, Iron Man 1 + 2) Jake Gyllenhaal (Donnie Darko, Brokeback Mountain, Brothers) Casey Affleck (Gone Baby Gone, The Killer Inside Me) Leonardo Di Caprio (The Departed, Shutter Island) Honourable mention goes to Christian Bale, I nearly always enjoy his performances. Even in the much maligned Public Enemies and Terminator Salvation I think he did the best he could with what he had to work with.
