Kevin Spacey had many rumors too.

Routh is straight but still got pulled into rumors.

If the actor is open on the subject, of course there will be more buzz. If the actor keeps his personal life separate. Rumors may pop up here and there, but overall shouldn't detract from their talent if they are the right lead for the movie.

Ideally, but that's not necessarily how the suit mentality works.

Spacey wasn't playing Superman.

I can't comment on the other actor mentioned, this isn't his thread.

It frustrates me. I understand he's only 6'1. I to see why that can be a problem. But facially it's like looking at Superman.

Cavill is my ideal choice. I think he would be great for the role. As for his height, I think a two-inch heel boot would make him the perfect height for supes. I think Routh used "high heeled" boots, so I really don't see a problem with his height.

Most actors in Hollywood are about 5'7". Cavill would tower over them and look fine.

i dont think 6'1 is that short. That is a fair height for superman, Now if the actor was at or lower then 5'10 then that is when the person is to short.

Plus, Cavill also has a farily big frame that works for Superman. As much as I like Bomer as an actor, I think his frame is much too slight for Superman. Even if he was taller, I still don't think he'd look right.

totally agree there besides height we need someone who has or can get a big frame on them so we can have that right shape for superman.

The difference between being 6'1 & 6'2 would not be noticable 'on screen'

I want Superman, whoever is cast, to be a reasonable height that he doesn't stick out of a crowd like a sore thumb... but at the same time I don't want him to be a short arse..

6'1 - 6'3 is spot on, it is taller than the average male.

i would love to see Cavill cast as Kal El! He may have the best look out of anyone I've seen.

I must say, Cavill's my top choice to take on the role.

I think WB would be missing a trick if they cast someone like...say, Channing Tatum, over a man who actually looks like Superman...and can act.

well even if they didnt look at cavill for supes. Maybe he could be looked at for villain role or a supporting role.

No, that would be a bad idea, IMO. Because if they did that, a slew of fanboys would react the way they did when Topher Grace was cast as Venom...they complained that he was wrong for that role but should have been Spider-Man and not Tobey.
