I was just re-watching the first X-Men film. Magneto says he first saw the Statue of Liberty in 1949. Do you think this will translate over to First Class?

It's quite possible.

I keep hearing that there are a lot of callbacks and easter eggs that to the future/previous X-Men movies..

Well according to reports the film starts during world war 2 with the recreation of the
magneto In concertation camp, jumps to Xavier as boy meeting the young girl Mystique, and cuts to Shaw testing Magneto In concertation camp and then going to
credit sequenze(Possibly the X-Men version of the Bond credit sequenze) and then it cuts to 1962.

Reports say there are callbacks to X-men and X2 so It Is possible.

If not I'll just take liberties in my head like he meant "I first saw a picture of it in 1949".. I'm a continuity freak. As in, if Bryan Singer is making this movie and calling it a PREQUEL, it should be consistant. With HIS movies of course, not the last two. I don't buy this "loose prequel" what does that mean? If you're going to go so far as to keep the same effects and sounds as Mystique transforms, keep plotpoints. Otherwise, it's not a prequel.

Just because they will skip over showing Magneto coming to America in 1949 doesn't mean that they are ignoring what was said in X-Men. It's far from being a plot hole/continuity issue.

And if they end up contradicting that in this film, they can always chalk it up to Magneto lying to Rogue when he said that line to her in the first X-men film.

I love this, I've never really minded about the whole specific chronology from the other movies, but it would be great to reveal that Erik and Charles are pathological liars:

"I met a young mutant named Erik when I was...eh 19, yeah, that's sounds about right.".

"The statue of liberty, I saw it for the first time in...I wanna say 49?"

In my head, if that was indeed a lie to Rogue it would be so that he comes off to her as a martyr of sorts. Here's this guy who escaped the Nazi concentration camps and flee to NY, where he's consequently persecuted for being a mutant.
Of course the li(n)e backfired.

"I first saw her in the 1949"
To which Rogue retorts: "I've seen it."

Also it makes Wolverine's line in the first movie that much more relevant: "You're so full of "$h*t"

I think it was very honest when he said it in "X-Men", but the martyr lie angle is a nice spin for continuity errors.

Well they don't need to show Magneto coming to America as a boy... but if Erik is in Europe when he meets Xavier and first comes to America as an adult it wouldn't work. Oh well...

Or as a teenager, he came to America and then went back to Europe.

I think Magneto was being 100% honest with Rogue.

I think that X-men 1 came out 11 years ago and that isn't a big deal if they keep in continuity with that line.No one except maybe 10 people on here are going to remember that one tiny line, and have it throw them off.

When they made the movie 11 years ago i don't think they looked that far ahead, no movie does with possibilites of a sequel.

I'm done thinking about the continuity between all these movies.

I mean, I've heard in some reviews that this movie does kinda mess around with the continuity a bit, but in the grand scheme of things, the changes seem to be relatively minor.

Well reviews say they are laregly sticking to continuity with Singer's films but there will
probally be a few liberties taken. And they will hardly be the first franchise to take
Libities with what was said.

When exactly Magneto first showed up In America Isn't going to be delt with much I
suspect.

I just had to quote this one because it's so true. FOX FINALLY did just that with this movie!!

Fassbender was just too awesome as Magneto. I really felt invested in seeing his character arc. Without it, this movie would have been very dull.

Fassbender is like what Heath Ledger was to TDK. He literally makes the movie.

The Argentina scene is so intense. I love when all three men are downing their beers, waiting for someone to make a move.
