Kevin Bacon eh??? I like this news, not sure about him playing Mr Sinister although I dont necessarily feel that its bad news just unsure at the moment. Either way if he's cast in this movie I'll be happy as he's a fine actor!

You can see why though, although there is alot of famous names in there. There isnt anyone really big now... Think Kevin is brought in only to give that celebratey big budget feel to the movie. Remember we have Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan in the previous.

Yeah, that's what I've been saying..

and I think this movie still has room for a couple more recognizable names.

The X-Men films have never really relied on 'names' in it's casts like for instance Batman has.For the most part they've cast seasoned veteran actors and young up and comers who's salaries don't take up half the budget.

Bacon is a good and versatile actor but i can't really see him as Sinister. But stranger things have happened....

The X-Men did relay on big names, Singer had Patrick Stewart of Star Trek fame, and Sir Ian McKellan of Theator fame...he brought these two in so that people would watch the first x-men movie

In X-Men 2, they brought in Alan Cumming...

In X-Men 3, They brought in Vinne Jones...

In X-Men Origins Wolverine, They brought in Ryan Reynolds

the high evolutionary will never appear in an xfilm. he's hardly appeared in anything having to do with xmen since the beginning. he is not an xmen villian.

Uh, in America, back 10 years ago, Ian McKellen was a nobody. I think Halle Berry was one of their bigger tickets actually.

In X2, they really didn't bring in anyone that people "knew"--and they didn't have to. Alan Cumming was just some "character actor" at the time that people may have seen in a few movies, but he wasn't a household name or anything...His name didn't add a significant amount of value. Bringing in Brian Cox held more weight.

The same with Vinnie Jones--in fact, X3 added so many additional other names like Bill Duke, Kelsey Grammer, Ellen Page, or whatever...I don't think they really amounted to much overall, but I guess it still created more value to the movie.

Anyway, with Bacon added to the mix, this movie's value just shot up significantly.

Patrick Stewart was a tv actor, and I doubt anyone really knew who Ian McKellen was. At least before X1 and LOTR.

If you think people know who Alan Cumming and Vinnie Jones are, you're foolin' yourself.

Yeah. If there are any names the X-Men franchise relied on, they're Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry, and that was post-X-Men.

so I strongly don't believe Bacon is a mutant, but you never know, but I'm thinking we may get a Sentinel storyline (since we haven't yet) and the key players where Trask, Gen. Lang, and Sebastion Shaw, so he could be one of these men....

Giant sized "man" hunting robots probably imprisoning or killing mutants and Xavier still believes mutants and humans can co-exist could cause a rift 'tween Eric and him
In terms of role a villain plays in a hero's universe, how is Stryker and Gradyon Creed different? Creed himself seems redundant, unless he is a side plot, instead of the main villain, making him the main villain in a film like this would make it too similar to X-Men 2, what would Creed bring to the table that we didn't already see with Stryker?

As for the Sentinels, is this movie a prequel or a reboot? Because if its not a reboot, how would they explain why sentinels were severed used by the government to control mutants in the first 3 X-Men movies or explain how the guy who is supposed to have invented the sentinels, is a big black guy who became the secretary of defense and looks nothing like Kevin Bacon?

Also frankly there tons of villains that haven't been used yet, so why use Graydon Creed, who doesn't seem epic enough to carry a whole movie.

This is still a prequel but with recasts.

I think Halle was a recent Oscar winner by this time, so she brought some buzz to the project. X2 didn't really do the same, but X3 definitely had some weight with freaking Frasier behind it.

Halle was still up and coming. She didn't win her oscar until a year after X-Men.

I heard conflicting reports, with some people their using this to reboot the franchise in a more sleathy manner. How much are they going to b bound by the other movies, is Cyclops going to be at the school right away because if they are ignoring parts of the other movies, its at least somewhat of a reboot.

And if its a prequel, I don't see how they can work in the Sentinels, as I explained in my post above and the other human villains would be redundant after Stryker.

So they are going to stick to the contiuinity of the other movies exactly, with Xavier already having rescued Cyclops from that weapon X lab and Trask being the sectary of defense? There's not going to be scene where Xavier recruits cyclops, because that already happened poorly in the Wolverine movie?

I don't see how they can work in the sentinels considering what went on in the other movies, why didn't the government use the sentinels in the and if Kevin Bacon is going to play Trask, as some would suggest here, what does that mean for the Bill Dukes Trask we see in X-Men 3?
