You're right it is unacceptable. While the West's meddling has essentially created the quagmire that is going on in the Middle East, the responsibility falls on the people committing such acts.

Uhh... how many people were killed in the name of other causes over the course of human history? How many of those atrocities went along with the edicts of those causes?

But you've got a hard-on for Islam apparently, so I'm probably not going to change your mind, nor will anyone else, regardless of the facts presented.

I can only hope that either irony or justice comes your way, but the human race has a way of letting blind stupidity continue with no repercussions.

Why is it that when I argue about Islamic Extremism, people say "other groups do bad stuff too, stop harping on the extremists!". Just because I speak out against one, doesn't mean I condone the rest!

Right now, 2010, the new problem is Islam. If it were the 12th century, I'd be speaking out against the crusaders. Blindness is not realizing what the growing problem is and stupidity is thinking that the past deeds of a people condemn them for hundreds of years.

No. Islam is not the problem. The problem is the people who commit atrocities in the name of Islam. There's the difference you're not getting. It's the extremists that are the problem, not Islam.

Extremism in general is bad, regardless of the belief system they try to claim that they represent.

You're equating Islam with Terrorism. That's the problem. What don't you see?

Actually, I think I make the distinction quite clear when I post. I generally try to write out Islamic Extremism. Still, the problem is internal and growing, not slowing down or becoming less connected to its core.

Every religion has extremists, sure. The amount of religious extremists willing to blow themselves up in a crowded room/subway/plane? Probably gonna go to the side of Islamic Extremism.

Maybe, but that's just their tactics. There are a lot worse things you can do than blow a few people up on occasion.

So let's say we all agree with you. Let's brainstorm on how to stop all this.

Make Islam illegal in America?
Convert them to Christianity?
Put Muslims in Gitmo?
Internment camps?
Special airplanes for Muslims?
2nd class citizenship?
Deportation of American citizens to the Middle East?
Ovens?

How exactly are we gonna solve this problem with Islam?

On occasion? Open any newspaper from last week and odds are there will be a blurb about the latest attack. That's what people don't realize and it's why I made this thread.

Franklin, I have no words for you anymore. You just...

We can't actually. We just need to fight back until we either stop the extremists we have now for a while or they get tired of us. The best solution would be time travel and not getting involved in the first place.

I never understood why the idea of going "Hey, Israel, we're buds, but this is your fight, so best of luck." never seemed to occur to anyone.

So this is about Israel now? Right... I'll just exit this thread now before I'm forced to break the new rule by the mods about staying away from Israel.

That's "on occasion", and seriously, that type of crap's going to happen anyway. If it's not Islamic extremists, it's the IRA. If it's not them, it's some African warlord, and so on and so forth. As long as some places in the world are consistently crappy to live in, and I don't live there, I don't mind.

Isn't it always about Israel? Aren't they generally pissed at the West because we gave the lands around Jerusalem (a city tied to the three Abrahamic religions) to Israel back in the 50's, on top of everything else?

And there's a rule about not talking about Israel? Let me go on record saying that if that's the case, that's ****ing stupid.

Wouldn't kneeling require me to believe everything the Daily Show has to say and acknowledge my Jewish Overlords?
