Did you guys catch the name of the dude Tarloc mentioned to Tenzin? About a criminal that Aang needed to take down.

Well, I for one love Tarloc. He's essentially a fear-mongering, power-grabbing politician not unlike many we've seen in the world we currently inhabit. Using the Avatar as his pawn...whether she won or lost to Amon only helped to strengthen his case for more aggressive action against Equalists.

And seeing that Equalist raid kind of made me feel bad. I mean, how do you fight against people that can bend the elements unless you have surprise on your side...I find myself believing in Amon more.

Someone needs to post an "Amon was right" image!

I have read too much X-men to side with the non-Benders....In the future the Benders will most likely end up like the mutants or at least not as not in power or possibly wiped out completely. Amon just seems racist to me.

I was wondering about that too. Chi-blocking is apparently illegal, but it's okay to be able to throw fire and lightning at will.

With that in mind, since the progress of technology and it's affect on the "old ways" are a running theme in this universe, I'm a little surprised that no one has invented guns yet. It'd make for an interesting dynamic if the term "firearm" was non-literal.

Also, if the "previously on..." newsreels are any indication, primative movies have also been invented. I'm just curious what movies in the Avatar universe are like.

I felt episode 4 was a bit of a letdown compared to episode 3. "I can kill you now, but I'll wait instead" is just so cliche.

It may be but its logical. Amon has already shown her that he can get to her and he's right that she would become a martyr. I mean there are four other nations out there filled with benders who look at the Avatar as a deity. Plus we're not sure how Korra fits into his plans yet.

Yeah that was very Super or Bond Villain and not a real rebel terrorist who would have just killed her.

What would have been the point of killing her? She'd just be reincarnated in the Earth Kingdom and Amon would have made another enemy down the road.

It makes sense. Amon can't kill the Avatar yet, not unless he

a)Drags the Avatar legacy through the mud thus making the people no longer love/respect/fear the Avatar

or

b)Figures out a way to end the cycle permanently.

Besides, I think Amon knows that its Tarloc who has more to gain from the Avatar's defeat. He needs Tarloc to push the non-Benders harder, radicalize the moderates, gain more momentum. In so many ways, that's what Revolutionaries or "Terrorists" do to gain a foothold in popular opinion.

That was my favorite episode yet. They just keep getting better. I want know why it was just Aang, Toph, and Sokka that was flashed on. How are they connected? Why just those three? I want more now!

Lol, no. I don't agree on that. Fully embracing the life-style will not turn them into benders.

I more-or-less agree that there is a chance, if deemed worthy, the original bending spirit (air bison) can teach them. I am not of the thinking 'living the lifestyle and adhering to the teachings' even for eons will make them just all the sudden start air-bending one day, nor do I think they'll all the sudden start having bending kids out of the blue.

I think it all hinges on the original spirit. Period. Basically.. non benders better get taught by the original spirits (dragons, badger-moles, air-bison) or they aren't bending. Ever. That's just my take on it.

Hopefully Amon will serve him up a big helping of his bending-eraser. Unfortunately, that still leaves him able to talk. Unless, they treat him really like Zhao and he gets legitimately whacked by season's end, lol.

Episode 4 was the best episode yet. I loved all 5 seconds of the flashback haha. This is actually great. Because what the writers are doing is bridging the adult backstory of Aang, Sokka, and Toph to the events that are happening in the present. Which is why Korra had the flashback after Amon knocked her out in the first place. This will all tie together eventually, which means we will see more flashbacks of the gAang. And that split second of Aang torepedoing through the air was AMAZING. Wow, I feel as if Aang, in that split second, came to life.

Asami reminds me of that villainess character from TLA, the one that rod on that creature who's tongue paralyzed people. Except Asami obviously doesn't seem like a villain. And she looks like Megan Fox lol. Makko and her make a good couple and I thought this was a very human episode for him.

Korra was so distant in this and I loved it. Whenever she was onscreen you got the sense she was not present and her attention was elsewhere. The animators and writers did a good job of exploiting that emotion from her.

Tarlok is a likeable douche. And is either working for Amon or is power hungry.

And I've said this before I'm sure, but Amon is terrifying. He really is a great villain in all this. The actor's sharpe voice and killer tone is unsettling. Great job.

I'd say so far my favorite episodes would be

Has anyone read the A:TLA comics that are supposed to fill in the gap between the original show and Korra?

If so how were they?

People tell me its quite interesting. There's a lot more going on than the whole Gang just living happily after the war has ended. Only Part 1 is out now. Part 2 comes out in May while Part 3 comes out in September I believe.

I don't plan on reading it until all 3 three are out.

I haven't read them, but I've been told about them, too. Tried finding them online but to no avail. Not in a position to pick them up yet. Oh well. I hear good things though.

Saw this on tumblr (http://lyralockheart.tumblr.com/). It all makes sense now, they are able to provide such quality animation by including hidden ads in the show. Quite fond of the shampoo one.

The only real airbenders are Tenzin and his kids. Therefore, all future generations of air-benders will forever be descendants of Aang. That doesn't mean there won't be people who live the air-bending lifestyle, as far as their spiritual beliefs and whatnot
I had assumed that this was not the case; as with Star Wars and the Force, I think that people are born with the ability and so I don't think Tenzin and his children are the only airbenders.
