He might get the credit for that flick and Kill bill, but in both cases it is mostly other people's tunes that are used for both films, so I couldn't rightly say how good he is doing an original score for a whole movie.

and Kaw, I agree that an orchestrated score is probably best for Spider-man, but I wouldn't rule out being surprised at what some of the popular musicians are capable of when it comes to scoring, and what they could do for a Spidey flick. They could even do a mix, some orchestarted, and some cool electronica.

the best electronic music makes you forget it's electronic music, if it's top quality stuff like the Fight Club music, or Air's stuff, it just sounds like cool, atmospheric music that fits the scene. A lot of composers do use electronic music within their orchestrated scores, the music for the Nolan Batman music has some electronica in there, playing with the orchestrated stuff. I'm pretty sure it does anyway, as does the music from Lost. I'm not talking about breakdancing music from the 80s, lol.

Revell is a criminally overlooked composer. His score for Daredevil was moody and unique while still being emotionally satisfying.

I know it's a bit off subject, but wouldnt it be awesome if like the last lines of the film are uncle bens words and right as Andrew finishes, it breaks into "What I've Done" by Linkin Park? I think it fits

I think for this film Sony needs to hire a composer who hasn't scored a comic book film. That's the best way to try and give Spider-Man his own unique score. Usually, composers of comic book films try to redo/outdo their previous scores by mimicking it, or they try to copy the latest big comic book film's music. I'd love for Howard Shore to do it. But he'd probably frown upon it, Spider-Man wasn't left in the best light.

I'm still trying to find that 60s Spider-Man song, when it was scored by John Williams at the Oscars. To actually see if it could work.

Howard Shore would actually be pretty awesome. I guess I don't want somebody whose only real strength is "epic" trailer score-esque stuff. The emotional side, the characters, the human element- that's what a composer needs to be able to handle, because that's what makes Spider-Man different. But Spidey should also have his own unique sound, and fans have been clammoring for a more identifiable theme than the Elfman score gave us for a long time.

I wouldn't mind Mychael Danna, I know nothing about Rob Simonsen, but my dream pick would be Thomas Newman.

I see the parallel, but I also feel like that song has been way overplayed in movies and on the radio. But I'm predisposed to being hostile towarsd Linkin Park, because I've never cared for them as a band.
