![]() From CBR: - On the movie front, Quesada soon showed a film clip that he claimed to have stolen from Marvel Studios. The short clip of Agent Phil Coulson conspiring with a fellow SHIELD agent over how to trick General Thunderbolt Ross into denying a deal they were offering him. - The actor then said the clip – titled "The Consultant" – is one of two short films that will be included in the "Thor" BluRay to flesh out the background of SHIELD. The second clip will be showing later this weekend at Marvel events. Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon info - Clark Gregg most famous as Agent Coulson is reprising his role as Agent Coulson and is also the principal of Peter's school.

Coulson as a principle, YES!!! That sounds lulzy. I can imagine Fury assigining him to be the principle to look over Parker & the Son of Coul hating every moment of it.

Hmmm, if they are talking about Stark, I'm not so sure. It sounded like his meeting wasn't going to bad with General Ross. A couple insults thrown back and forth, but then right down to business. I wonder if there's any chance RDJ would be in this. Probably not.

Any chance Coulson could get his own movie one day just to fill in some back story? It won't be in place of another comic character but in addition, and maybe audiences might not even know it's a comic movie.

I love the idea of "The Consultant". It helps fill some continuity gaps between the after credits scene in TIH and the SHIELD debriefing at the end of IM2. Great idea Marvel!

In another thread some of us were venting our fears that Agent Coulson could be killed off in The Avengers. For me the fear was based on rumors about the stolen script and Joss Whedon's propensity for killing off major characters. Fortunately, Whedon himself has allayed my fears greatly in an MTV interview wherein he said he has a "man-crush" on Clark Gregg and that Coulson's role will be greatly expanded.
http://www.mtv.com/videos/movies/679...rk-gregg.jhtml Whew! Now I can breathe a little easier. The possible death of the Son of Coul had been worrying me. At least Whedon likes both the character and the actor, which gives me a lot of hope for Coulson's continued existence. |

I realize that, which is why I said I only have hope that Coulson won't be Whedon's next victim. However, Coulson is involved in other Marvel properties, like the Ultimate Spidey cartoon, so he's obviously valued by someone higher up in the food chain. Somehow I doubt that the Son of Coul would be used in such a prominent way if they planned on killing him off before the other projects even get off the ground. Of course, that could just be me hoping again.

Coulson was great in The Consultant. Clark Gregg plays the short so seriously even thought the short is quite comedic . I love how he plays Coulson when he expresses his frustration to Sitwell about the world security council choice to have Blonsky on the team to approve the Avenger Initiative .

This may have been mentioned previously, but someone suggested that Coulson might be an under-cover Skrull. This would make sence, making a character that no one is familar with in the comics, so the writers have the ability to use him however they want.

I believe the reason for making up an entirely new character was so that the fans wouldn't put two and two together about the organization being SHIELD until Coulson himself abbreviated it at the end of IM1

There have been constant rumors that Coulson will fall victim to Joss Whedon's habit of killing off popular characters. In an exchange of tweets, Clark Gregg himself gave a broad hint that the SHIELD agent isn't in Whedon's sights after all.
![]() ![]() That took a load off my mind. Now we can speculate about a future Phil Coulson: Agent of SHIELD movie/TV show/cartoon/comic/whatever. Who's up for that?

On the subject of an agent Coulson solo oneshot movie.....I honestly don't see it happening considering the time and money that would be required by marvel.....but I had a thought today when I saw the preview for "the Consultant".
How about a webseries starring him in the same vein as the hit or miss Mortal Kombat webseries that came out a few months ago? Every week or so we see Coulson on a new adventure in the Marvel universe. Not only would this be cool as a way to see Coulson develop on his own, but it would also work as a great framing device for Marvel to introduce and have fun with its lesser known heroes like Luke Cage or Moon Knight.

I'm glad to see Clark Gregg not just collecting paycheck for his role as Agent Coulson/Son of Coul, but also calling it his best role to date and really enjoyed the whole experience. I would love it if Marvel can make him into a comic character, just like DC did for Harley Quinn from BAS.

Judging by the preview that we saw in the TFA DVD/Blu Ray trailer, it seems like the Son of Coul will show that he's a force to be reckoned with amongst us mere mortals.lol

I recall some time ago he said that we'd eventually get to see Coulson "dish some pain" or something like that. Looks like this short is going to showcase that.

Gregg also said that he had to train for The Avengers and that Coulson is heavily involved in the action. That makes perfect sense given SHIELD's history as a paramilitary force that deals with superhuman problems in the Marvel Universe. All I want to see is maybe a two-minute Coulson/SHIELD fight scene where he opens up a can of whoop-ass on some aliens. Then I'll be a very happy cat.

You know, I just noticed in the poster for the SHIELD agents they all have guns, but I, being well informed of B-movie alien invasion type movies knows that guns are absolutely ineffective against such threats.
