The Son of Coul finally got a character poster. Clark Gregg tweeted it today (his birthday). Now I can stop sending those angry tweets @TheAvengers demanding that Coulson be given his propers.

I love how Fury looks like he's freaking out and losing his composure while Coulson is calm and zenlike and all "I got this ****" while he just holds his gun.

Did fans petition Marvel to give him his own character poster?

We didn't actually petition, we tweeted our discontent every time @Avengers tweeted a character poster that didn't feature the Son of Coul. So many people asked for a poster that Marvel was convinced to release one.

Coulson's poster looks great, but I wish they'd do something about Fury in the background; his posture is kind of awkward behind Coulson. Other than that, it's fantastic.

Coulson is King

the absolute best scene in any Marvel movie is when the Destroyer comes to Earth and Coulson just shurgs it off like another day at the office.

I really really hope there is a Coulson/SHIELD movie

think about the possibilities. It could be a jump starter for a bunch of smaller Marvel characters and be a lot of fun

I'm actually content with the shorts, they're hilarious, especially the one where he's in the Roxxon gas station. He was the boss in 500 Days of Summer and I was like 'You work for SHIELD!!'

I think a SHIELD movie in general would be a pretty good idea. I am gonna get ripped for this but I'm not of the belief you could have a solo Hawkeye movie and make a big release and all that....but what you could do is have kind of a super cop movie of SHIELD starring Fury, Coulson, Hill, Barton, Widow (If you look at it, is that not basically SWAT haha?)

If you look at it like a superhero MIB I think there are a lot of areas to go down.

You could do a before Avengers Shield and have Coulson and Hawkeye joining SHIELD at the exact same time, Coulson has been the career beaurucrat and worked his butt off while Hawkeye is like a wildcard Fury brought in and Coulson is jealous but ultimately is the hero or something

or you could further explore the world of superheroes

That scene with the Destroyer was where Coulson took a level in badass and really came into his own. When Coulson coolly monitored Thor's assault on the SHIELD compound and allowed him to reach the hammer it gave him an air of being competent and in control of the situation. His blase attitude towards Asgardians and their technology added to his mystique. It made you wonder what other weird things he's dealt with over the years.

We've been discussing the possibility of a SHIELD/Coulson movie or TV show in this thread. I think that a superhuman X-Files format would be great for a TV show. The possibilities for a SHIELD movie are even greater because of the bigger budget and ability to do more with the characters. Coulson (and Fury) are fairly popular with fans, Hawkeye and the Widow even more so. Perhaps enough so for Marvel to believe they can support a movie.

Through his eyes, his point of view, maybe a sort of recording log like what Sam Worthington and Milla Jovovich do in Avatar and The Fourth Kind, respectively. I would really appreciate that! And second the idea for exploring the world of superheroes, using Coulson's adventures as a vehicle to meet more Marvel heroes!

Agreed with the Thor chatter here. Coulson was cool and funny in the IM movies, but Thor is what took the character and the whole operation of SHIELD to another level of badassery and mystique. He can be deadpan and joke with Stark since they're on the same page; but when that hammer falls, **** goes down and Coulson is all business and it gets you that much more excited and intrigued about SHIELD and just what it has been dealing with and how much they know.

I love that he waited to see if Thor could lift Mjolnir and that Destroyer scene is indeed awesome as well.

Anyone think that they may kill off Coulson in this movie? I really hope not, but you never know, it could be a way to create an emotional response from the team.

Phil, Son of Coul is awesome. He might be so awesome though that the only awesome thing left for him to do would be to die in spectacular fashion. Personally, I would like to see him live, but if they do kill him off, I hope that he goes out in a meaningful way.
