Heck, I'd even add Henry Gyrich to the X1 cast, considering he's a character from the comic, and anytime someone is announced for this film everyone assumes they have a huge role, when they could easily be as small as Henry.

my only concern is that they do eventually cast cyclops and jean... i mean, if the movies good then yeah i can wait for a sequel, but i'd rather vaugh make the most he can out of this one instead of saving things for a sequel that may not happen. plus, how can they have havok without cyclops?

You could also add Pyro, Jubilee, and Kitty Pryde to the list from X1, Like you said just because they cast a certain character it doesn't mean it's going to be a significant role.

yeah but minor roles were played by minor actors, whatever role Oliver Platt is playing i can assure will be at least a medium sized one.

I don't think Platt looks anything like Schreiber.

I saw Oliver Platt in Guys & Dolls on Broadway last year. He doesn't look anything like Liev Schrieber. Plus, he looked like he was going to have a heart attack by the end of the show. He's a pretty big guy.

I completely agree- the other actor really doesn't seem exactly right for the role (Cyclops maybe?). Platt would make an excellent Beast!

He'd still make an excellent Beast once he was all blue and all that.

I didn't see that production. But everyone I know who saw it said it was an absolute train wreck. I did see the Tony Awards performance, though... and well..

D:

But, Platt is basically the definition of Character Actor. Whoever h's playing will probably steal the film.

I liked the show itself, the music is great...but I've been repeatedly told that it was a terrible production. Platt sounded like he was doing a Jackie Gleason impression for most of the show.

I still remember when he played George Steinbrenner...

You know, with the announcement that this movie will be set in the 60's, Platt playing "The Man in Black" in this film makes so much more sense.

I thought Platt's character was a cover up, but now I doubt it. It's the 1960's so it kinda makes sense.

With the 1960's setting he could be playing a government agent similar to men In Black only Intrested In Mutants instead of UFO'S. Of course this could still be a cover and he
Is playing Harry Leland.
