I just mean that he was a big enough character in the film that they could have given his death more weight and thus increased the depth & emotional resonance of the movie. Dawrin's death was shown much more even though he was a far more minor character in this film.

It was a missed opportunity, IMO. Could have easily picked up some extra points there.

I've always liked Oliver Platt. I was sad when he died.

I wondered if he was meant to be Hank's father... but judging from the lack of his emotional reaction to his death in particular I figured he wasn't.

I got the impression that he may have been a strong mentor figure.
