I think Hamm and Cavielzel are both too old . . .

Hamm, despite his age, intrigues me because I'm tired of seeing bland GQ model pretty boys playing the role or in Routh's case copying Reeve's interpretation.

I said it in another thread but if there is an increased perception nowadays amongst the GA that the character of Superman is 'lame' that really hasn't been helped by the, imo, wooden likes of Cain and Welling inhabiting the role. They had the looks and the physique down pat but aided by writing which was, at times, abysmal on both their shows It wouldn't shock me if viewers who didn't and don't worship actors only because they're good looking and have a six pack come to the conclusion that Superman is a one dimensional cartoon they can't take seriously. Even if they go against the trend of how a character's been traditionally presented (Daniel Craig as Bond) experienced or just plain talented actors must always be an option with these roles.

The better superhero movies all share talented actors in the key roles whether they were physically or 'age wise' right for the part (from Keaton as Batman to the tall Hugh Jackman as Wolverine).

(Reviving this thread)

Jon Hamm would be absolutely perfect on every level for Superman. The humor and humanity of Clark, and the confidence and intelligence of superman, Hamm can pull it all off.

Manganiello looks more intimidating than Hamm but Superman never came off to me as an ominous, big-meathead (sorry Joe fans) but aside from that, I dont believe hes even half the actor that Hamm is.

I'd rather have Routh than Manganiello for the reboot,... poor Routh.
