I'll be attending ny comic con if nothing comes up im planning on going with a couple of close friends so im hoping that they'll announce something there if not ill be pretty disappointed, but again if they dont announce anything by then or at the comic con its safe to assume more actresses have come into the fold

I wouldn't get your hopes up on a big announcement being made at Comic Con.

Studios almost never make major casting announcement at conventions. They're usually made through press releases, trade breaks (via Variety or Hollywood Reporter) or other movie related sites might break the story before hand.

When either or both roles are cast, Sony will send out a press release announcing the casting (like they did with Marc Webb, Andrew Garfield, and the initial announcement of the Reboot).

I believe Molina was announced well before Comic Con. By that time, they were well into principle photography and Molina's casting had been known for months. The first pic of Molina as Doc Ock was unveiled at the Con though. That's usually what's saved for the conventions. Premiering footage and pics.

It's way, way to early for any of that, at this point. They haven't even chosen their supporting cast and their still months away from the start of shooting.

Not really. They've had months to make a suit for Garfield, and start filming very soon, according to Garfield. They've probably got the suit ready

Also, they start filming in December. Not really "months away"

Teresa Palmer looks attractive, don't get me wrong but (like Stone imo) she doesn't have that wow factor that you really remember her because of her looks.

Plus I don't like the dark circles around her eyes she always seems to have. Poots has that kind of fresh innocence in her face and her eyes are just... wow.

I will post pics of Palmer and Poots and you decide. (And no I wont post a bad one)







I think that Teresa looks more like the mature woman who is probably more in control of her sexuality. While Imogen seems more girl-next-door. And while beautiful, she doesn't look incredibly mature.
Which would probably help in portraying the smart but pretty sweetheart.


Plus I think Teresa looks too ..... Australian, if that's even possible.


Teresa may work better with Garfield perhaps (because they are closer in age) but I think Imogen would make a better Gwen.

That's not what spidermanJLA!~ asked though. The question wasn't if a suit is ready at this point in time but if they're likely to release a pic of Garfield in the suit and this early in the game, IMO it's highly unlikely. It's way too early.

Imogen would be the ideal Gwen, imo.

But if it's down to Mia W. and Palmer....I don't really care. If they go with Mia, that would say to me that they're going for the Spectacular Spidey version (the invisible friend who has a crush on clueless Peter), which frankly, I think she'd be great for. If they go with Teresa Palmer, then they're obviously going for more of the "knockout" Gwen, which I guess is fine too, even if she seems better suited for Felicia Hardy to me. Imogen was the only option that could work for either scenario, imo.

Yay, someone agrees with me! It's always good to know you've got someone in your corner around these parts.

Imogen is a girl who could play practically all the different versions of Gwen imo.

If they went with Mia I would know for sure that pleasing the fanboys privates would not even be on their radar. (Since Mia just looks like a lanky teenager to me. Zero sex appeal)

See this is why i think the shortlist is absolutely ridiculous, no one on that list other then Palmer would be a valid candidate from Gwen at all, Imogen Poots is a great candidate and for some reason she's not on the list? She's done much more then any other gwen OR mary jane candidate. Its nonsense, that shortlist is god awful and im hoping sony has more candidates other then that of which we know from the released shortlist

Yeah I always think of Gwen as the ingenue and more like the damsel in distress role.

That's why it infuriated me when they made Kirsten Dunst's character a Gwen Stacy mould but with Mary Jane's name and career aspirations.


I hope the Gwen and MJ of this verse severly contrast with each other.

MJ shouldn't be the type of gal who needs to be constantly saved. I suppose that's why people are so hot for Emma Stone since she seems almost made of iron in terms of confidence.

Haha, I certainly agree with you on Gwen; not so much with MJ, though. I mean, I support Elena Satine for MJ as well (along with MEW), but I'm definitely one of those that thinks Emma Stone would be a better fit. It's just a vibe she has though that's hard to describe. I didn't see Zombieland until after I had seen her name brought up for MJ, and there was a scene in which her character and Jesse Eisenberg were talking, and I remember thinking in that moment, "this could totally be a conversation from Peter and MJ's first blind date." Because it was kind of awkward, he was nervous, and she was just totally cool, even if she wasn't really into him romantically (yet).

I can't find the actual scene on YouTube, but I did find this clip of Stone and Eisenberg "re-enacting" it for some TV show:

And IDK, in scenes like that, I can just see how she could be a really awesome MJ (definitely the most similar to the Spectacular Spidey one, though, which isn't a bad thing, imo).
