Natalie Portman in the running for Lois lane

Natalie Portman may be Warner Brothers' number one choice for the part of Lois Lane in the upcoming Superman reboot, reports Moviehole. The site reports that Portman was in the running for the part as far back as Superman Returns and that the recently rumored addition of Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky to the alleged studio short list may be a sign that negotiations for the part are back on the table.
The project, written by David Goyer and Jonathan Nolan, is to be "godfathered" by Batman Begins and The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan. The recent "short list" is also said to include Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code), Jonathan Liebesman (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, Battle: Los Angeles and just-signed for Clash of the Titans 2), Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In), Tony Scott (True Romance, Unstoppable), and Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300).
The first ever actress to play Lois Lane was Rolly Bester, who voiced the character on the 1940's radio adaptation. Subsequently, the part has been played by over a dozen actresses in a variety of media. Margot Kidder famously played the part in four Superman films with Kate Bosworth assuming the role for 2006's Superman Returns. Currently, Erica Durance portrays the character on the television series, "Smallville."

if her acting in Revenge of the Sith is any indiction, than yes, she is a really bad choice for Lois Lane. Just like Superman, I think Lois Lane needs to be an unknown, kinda like how they got Erica Durance in Smallville

why are you basing it off on Star Wars when she's done Closer, V for Vendetta, and most recently Black Swan, where she can carry a movie with good acting.

I wonder sometimes if her bad acting was on purpose in STROTS. A way of protesting how bad her character was written in that one.

BTW, who is running this rumor? It's too early for casting when there isn't even a director yet. Or even Superman. (besides the rumors of Jon Hamm)

Shes a really good actress (Star Wars aside) and would be a great choice for Lois Lane. If this rumour is true it sounds like its the studio that wants her.

I suppose there could be worse suggestions in terms of well known actresses. I think i'd prefer her to Ann Hathaway for example.

This rumor is totally piggybacks Arononsky's involvement too. So if Darren's out, then this rumor of Portman is out.

Me thinks that IF moviehole.com is right, and maybe Arononsky has thoughts of getting Portman to join but I'm sure hasn't been told squat about it. Then again, she did meet up with WB for Gravity. IF she chooses Gravity, then I think her chances are even higher than before.

as an actress, I don't think she will be thinking of stuff like that unless MARVEL has something on the contract.

You see, since she won't be in The Avengers and Thor 2 is like..in limbo (we don't know if there will be a Thor 2), why not?

TBH I think Thor will be massive flop he works as part of the Avengers but not as solo movie but thats just my opinion.

Don't they usually just NOT do the film? I imagine she would have read the character before accepting the script.

Any who, I LOVE Portman, she's awesome, but I'm not sure I'd dig her as Lois.

Actually, regardless if GL is huge or not, Reynolds might not do Deadpool because he's comitted to several other projects. In fact, he might not even have time for the GL sequel any time soon.

They need to find another Erica Durance or Teri Hatcher. How hard can that be?
