I think the nature of reboots are some things are going to inevitably be done over, even if it's not an origin movie.

Using Zod again sounds dumb.

Aside from being in Superman II (and Superman 1 for 2 minutes), what's wrong with Zod.

Nothing is wrong with zod, he's a compelling villain with a great backstory and tie to krypton which can create great drama and action for superman. Besides we don't know what capacity zod appears in, brainiac is not off the table (has ties to krypton and zod specifically now). I think this is the making of a great trilogy and I'm thrilled there using zod.

I find nothing wrong with Zod, aside from the fact that he has been used before. In five Superman films, all we've gotten is Luthor and Zod. It would be kind of a slap in the face to immediately use one of them again once we've just started over, considering the huge (and awesome) rogues gallery Superman has.

Has it been confirmed that Zod is the villain in this film or is this just a romor?

Zod is fine if used right. The best use of him ever in the comics was in the Phantom Zone mini-series from the early 80's IMO. They really explored how surreal and mind-bending the PZ could be and the effects it has on people and Zod's plot-which involved sending Superman into the PZ and using Green Lantern's power battery to send Earth into the Phantom Zone while Supes had to watch helpless was badass. Zod was shown as a brutal, Nazi-like war criminal in flashback scenes in that series too.

I don't have a problem with Zod. I mean, they need a recognizable villain who isn't only known by comics fans (ala Brainiac or Darkseid), and who will be different from what people are used to (and bored with) in the movies (Luthor). The last time most of the general audience saw Zod was 30 years ago. I think it's safe to say this Zod will look and feel very different from that.

And as long as it's a non-Earthbound villain that can show us Superman being Super for once, with some actual super battles, I'm all for it. Plus, I'm loving the idea of Gerard Butler as Zod now that Snyder's on board.

Also, if they're leaking Zod's involvement this early, I wouldn't count out other villains' inclusion as well (*crossing fingers for Brainiac*).

I wouldn't mind General Zod, so long as he has this outfit: http://www.**************.com/images...eneral-zod.jpg

FINALLY! Someone answered my question.

I don't watch Smallville so I was wondering why everyone was so sick of Zod. Makes sense now.

This conversation would be less controversial if the title of thread was "General Zod confirmed as A villain" as opposed to "the villain." Since we don't know the extent of the story and safe money is on Jonah Nolan and Goyer writing a story with multiple villains.

I really don't think Zod will be the only villian.I think we'll see Braniac as well. I just hope we see a physical threat to Superman. I also believe Luthor will be well written.

I'd love that as special gear he wears for the final battle!,Not sure about the whole movie though,I think I would like IF Zod's cloths in his introduction would be similar to Zod in Smallville But just....Better lol.

Zod's clothes on Smallville are way too Earth-like. The Kandorians even had dog tags with their house symbols on them.

I think he's 'a' villain.

When Latino Review first leaked out that Nolan was even attached to Superman, they mentioend that Brainiac is involved and that a major plot point is The Daily Planet is struggling due to the internet. I still believe that might be case.

Think about this: Maybe Zod is in the cold open, just like Geoff Johns' arc on Superman, with Brainiac. Zod only appears in the beginning when Brainiac attacks Kadnor.

I don't have any problem with Zod as a villain. I only had a problem if Bryan Singer decided to use him in his SR sequel, because I didn't think it needed to connect even more to the previous movies.

I think this we'll get both as well, because these villains will give them a creative way to tell the story of Superman's origin, as to where he comes from, without making an actual origin film, if that makes sense.

Also, people have been wrong so many times with these rumors, citing that Ben Affleck is super close in getting the gig, to Darren Aronsonsky. I'm sure they were in the running or thought about it, but sometimes it read as IF they got the GIG when didn't.
