For me, the movies in question are Lady in the Water and The Happening, and I stand by the opinion that both are horribly misunderstood. In particular the former, which was a damn bedtime story written for his kids. Cut the man some slack. It was his vision, his story, his film, and it was not based on any video game, cartoon, comic book, or theme park ride. It was original and he got to do what he wanted to do. Isn't that what we're demanding more of in Hollywood? Artistic integrity and originality?

I know I'm annoying, but I'll defend this man to the ends of the earth.

Not a bad trailer. But I'm definitely not catching it at the theatres.

Honestly... this is going to be kind of awesome. I'm not sure how that got missed. Shayamalan's problem is that he thinks he's smarter than he actually is, that these twists are golden... well, with Will Smith undoubtedly producing, they got the twist out of the way in the trailer first thing. Boom. Now all that is left is some action and a strong father son bond. These are not things that will be difficult for this movie.

The trailer looks golden to me. It should be worth the ticket price just for the spectacle.

The first shot of the trailer is so great. In that I saw faint glimpses of the directing brilliance of Night's first two films. Even in his bad and terrible films, he can frame and compose a shot like almost no other. He reminds me of Hitchcock in his sheer mastery of the camera. Alas, the world of movies is a poorer place that we have the misfortune of seeing his immense talent being ill used and wasted like this. Let us all hope this film is a bounce back for him.

I liked Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs, but did not watch Shyamlan's other movies as the reviews were not good.

I hope that this movie turns out to be one of his good movies.

We need to start a thread focusing on the greatest/worst movie posters featuring the camera poised behind the hero looking at something cool.

HA!

I'd counter all of this, but considering who's posting this saying all of this is all the defense I need.

It looks sort of interesting but trailers as we all know can be cunningly deceiving.
Especially considering how excellent the first Last airbender teaser was.

TLA would never ever get close to becoming the next Harry Potter.

Actually the material has the makings to surpass it. Far and away.
This would only be more clear if TLA was a novella series.

I have mixed feelings towards AE. On one end, if this was James Cameron....
yea.

This. It had the makings for it. If they got a more competent filmmaker who had more respect for the material, the it would have been a hit.

Peter Jackson could have made a brilliant come back with that series.

I actually didn't like the teaser for TLA over time. It was due to the bending, which hinted at how wrong they were going to do it.

I don't know, TLA is pretty damn popular. If they had done the first film right I wouldn't have doubted it.

Well they were wise not to include M. Night Shyamalan's name in the trailer. Looks good though.
