I admired the Chronicles of Riddick. It was just your average sci-fi fantasy with some inspired production and creative action sequences.

It was a decent film. I think it suffered from being a sequel to a movie with a cult following. I think the biggest problem with The Chronicles of Riddick was that it just wasn't Pitch Black. If it had been the first film to come out it might have been viewed differently. It could have been the first in a series of "Conan in Space" type movies.

Is that movie that good?
It was streaming on Neflix, but they took it down before I got a chance to watch all of it. I watched the first 10 minutes then had to turn it off due to something else. When it comes to period pieces, I really, really have to be in the mood for them. Especially when they're 3+ hours long. |

But I also understand it's not for everyone's taste, but people who like it, like me, usually really really love it. (I think it's my favorite K film or at least for sure in the top 3.) So, if you're in the right frame of mind, grab some food, some drinks and prepare yourself for an incredible journey, a Kubrickian Time Machine and watch magnificent painting come to life before your eyes. You're a cinephile, Figs, you have to watch Barry Lyndon at some point in your life .

I just bought a ton of Hong Kong phooey Brucesploitation films. While the plots are horrible and the dubbing is worse than a milli vanilli music video the martial arts sequences are pretty cool and make the films worth watching.
Plus I feel like Mike Nelson when I watch movies this bad.

I enjoyed that film quite a bit until the third act.

agree 100% movie is wonderfully paced and then is let down badly with a terrible final act. |

Robin and Marian. My favorite take on the Robin Hood mythology.
Also marks the second time in his career that Sean Connery has to fight Robert Shaw who plays a great and scary Sheriff. (First time being, of course, in my favorite Bond movie: From Russia with Love.) A great, underrated gem of a film.
