It's a good title . If they allow Aronofsky to do his thing it'll be amazing.

I kinda like the title. I'm glad they're trying to not keep this in continuity with XMOW, although I didn't hate the film like most do. I think making this a "one-off" film is a cool idea.

I'm actually pretty excited for this one, and Deadpool. Just don't fox it up.

I love that title. So simple and so epic. I hope the Batman reboot is called "The Batman".

I doubt it'll happen, but it would be great if it were Rated R. Then we'd have the brutal Wolverine from the comics.

I kinda figured that this was going to ignore Origins...

I think that this film will very much so work as a standalone movie and wont require viewing the first film to understand it.

aka...if you hated Origins, simply consider this one the first Wolverine movie, lol.

If I recall on some reports...he was actually hoping to get the Superman gig.

More like half did for them. When the project got the second greenlight it's WB and Fox who co-finance the project.
Now for The Wolverine, I hoping Aronofsky gets a smooth ride during the production of the film, unlike what Hood got with Fox when fighting over the film's direction.

The title, and the concept of this being a standalone film, all sounds great to me. To this day I've never seen X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and had zero interest in seeing the sequel. But Darren Aronofsky's involvement single-handedly put this film on my radar. And hearing that it's not going to be beholden to the last prequel and Aronofsky will get to do more of his own thing only ups my anticipation.

Movie titles nowadays seem to be deliberately trying to be as UN-creative as possible.

Seriously though, i like the title too - very simple and effective.

It's going to be very intriguing to see how Aronofsky handles a big budget movie under a studio like Fox. In the past he's been close to making Batman, Watchmen and Robocop but non ever panned out for a variety of reasons so this is his first. Also, he's known to really push and challenge the actors in his films so it'll be interesting to see if he can still get the same results even though the scale is bigger.
Agreed. I'm liking what I'm hearing so far too.

Why would they do that? They've found the perfect Wolverine, imo. Sure he's not short and doesn't use an overly gruff voice, but his take on the character is much more realistic.

Hugh made Wolverine into a leading man type of character, which doesn't suit him at all IMO. But they're not going to replace him until he doesn't want to do the role anymore.

I remember Hugh was asked if Wolverine would appear in the Avengers movie and he replyed:

"I haven't gotten any phone calls yet. But you never know. He could but you never know if someone else could have been called to play Wolverine."

Chris Claremont On The Wolverine

The man behind the iconic Japan saga that the new movie will be based on gives his thoughts on the direction Darren Aronofsky is taking things, and reveals that he wanted Bob Hoskins to play the part of Wolverine!..
I haven’t seen the screenplay. I’ve heard lots of talk that the screenplay is brilliant, true to the comics, everything else. Reading the cast list, so to speak, was the first inkling I had to the structure of the narrative itself.

..Over the course of the three films he evolved on screen in much the same manner he evolved in the comic. The Wolverine quite naturally becomes the core essence of the group. It would have been interesting if we’d done it 25 years ago and I’d gotten my wish and Bob Hoskins had played him. Hoskins has that same degree of mad fury, and he’s short. Don’t think of Super Mario Bros. think of The Long Good Friday. With Hugh Jackman, it just reverses the paradigm, he’s six foot four and who cares?

..The Wolverine in the film adaptation of the story exists in a different world than the Logan in the story, but that’s the same in any adaptation like the difference between Romeo & Juliet done by Baz Luhrmann versus Franco Zefirrelli versus on the stage. You mentioned that the film starts with him in jail so something happened between Wolverine 1 and Wolverine 2, he’s in jail, but the essence of the character is the same. There’s no X-Men back story to it so you know this won’t end with him sending a note back to the mansion saying “Come to the wedding”.

..The responsibility of the filmmakers is to define their own reality in that two hour stretch. The reality is what occurs in that 110 minutes. The idea with any film is you walk in the door never having seen anything before and you’re introduced to the totality of the experience

I disagree. Hugh has started something spectacular with Wolverine. Before X1, Wolverine was always the odd man of the group, but after the first Singer movie, Wolverine started to become a leading man in the media (X-Men Evolution, Wolverine and the X-Men, etc) and I think that suits him more.

i hope by the movie not being a sequel to origins that doesnt mean it is going to contradict anything that happened in that film or the x-men films.
