Just a thought. i just saw this new preview of the wolverine anime.
i'm not much of a fan of cartoons anymore and i actually don't care much for the design of wolverine in this anime. he looks like a pretty boy wolverine.

but this anime puts wolverine in a modern day japan.

i had the idea that The Wolverine, will basically be like The Last Samurai just starring wolverine instead of tom cruise and that the movie would take place in the 1980's.

but i have a funny feeling its gonna be updated to a 2010 Japan setting with no connection to the original trilogy. its unfortunate that they might go that way but its necessary to wipe out the image orgins.

i mean i think they realize that messed up and that orgins somewhat tarnishes the image of the trilogy.

if they can do a new wolverine and first class right, then they can do more movies.

wolverine will get deep into asian mafia, samurai's, and ninja clans.

it may also be confusing for the non-comic fans too. oh well!

i personally feel like this movie should come off as a cross between THE LAST SAMURAI - NINJA ASSASSIN just starring wolverine.

i'm also curious about the rating. i hope darren is able to get an R Rating.

infact i heard that's why matt vaughn decided not to do Wolverine orgins. he wanted an R rating.

even though i don't think this will happen in the past. i think this film will occur and a more realistic modern 2010 setting just with wolverine and classic wolverine enemies if it gets a sequel

Well I dont think it will happen in modern times. I think 80s if anything. But it'll probably have a more timeless feel to it

I'm guessing timeline won't be clear or important. Even if it was definitively set in 2012 it could just about pre-date the original trilogy.
