I know that, it's just they're fairly recent films.

Yeah, that song was great. I also loved when Dodger sings "Why should I worry" while trotting around New York as Oliver chases after him.

The opening to The Lion King is kind of hard to top. Down Under's is okay. I never really paid much attention to the logo intro. It's not epic for me so much as a GREAT shot. Everything that happens after it is where it gets epic.

Hercules is one of the best DR movies to me, along with Tarzan.

It's been so long since I've seen Down Under that I don't remember it. I should give it a rewatch soon.

It's certainly entertaining. Bruce Broughton's score really elevates it, especially in the opening titles and end credit music.

The Rescuers is a bit inferior to its sequel, but Madame Medusa is such a wonderfully nasty and vain character. She's more realistic and funnier than the generic villain McLeach.

I really enjoyed McLeach, but man, it's George C. Scott. And the egg scene with him and Joanna is one of the funniest gags in Disney history for me. McLeach is just so over the top and cheesy he's fun. Medusa is wonderfully nasty, though, and definitely fits the tone of the first one.

I think Tarzan's intro was pretty well done. We all know the origin regarding his parents, but actually seeing it animated and done so well without dialogue was a work of art.

Tarzan's definitely my second favorite into of the era. It really helped set the tone for the movie and Phil Collins song definitely lifts up the scenes.

I want to rank these movies, but I really need to rewatch them. Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast are the only I've watched in the last 10 years (the latter of which I just watched a few weeks ago after not having seen it for 15 years).

I actually had a marathon of all of these recently so it wasn't as hard for me to rank them.

ABC Family tends to show a lot of them from out the blue. They had Aladdin on at like 10pm on sunday night.

I'm having a blast introducing these to my 3-year-old sister! Can't believe how they retain their emotional ambiance even after so long. In terms of animation, it really was something to be proud of.

My The Lion King, Aladdin and The Little Mermaid will always be my favourites, just don't ask me to rank them.

Shouldn't SLEEPING BEAUTY be in on this?

Sleeping Beauty was one of the first in the 'golden age' of Disney.

Along with Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and Alice in Wonderland, I know, but aren't they a part of the Renaissance? I thought the 'golden age' belonged to Disney classics like Steamboat Willy ?

No, the Disney Renaissance is 1989 to 1999. The films from this time returned to the quality Disney was known for from 1937 to 1959. Steamboat Willie is part of what's considered the golden age of animation but that's not the golden age of Disney feature films (Steamboat Willie was only a short).

The opening to Hunchback is amazing. The song "Bells of Notre Dame" and then the reveal of the logo gives me chills every single time.

Thanks for clearing that out for me Spider-Bat [up]. It's strange but I always had the impression that the 'Renaissance' was in terms of storytelling - in that the feature films that Disney made were retellings of classic works of literature. But anyway. Lots of favourites from Disney films all around from my end.

Does anyone here have any fond memories of the TV shows that were based off of the animated movies?

I loved 'Timon & Pumbaa' despite it being a rip-off of Ren & Stimpy. Hell, I liked it better than R&S... & I still do too.
