The "World of Heroes" DC RPG Season IX Signup/OOC Thread

I have a few questions about the status of things in the RPG, specifically:
1. What is the status of Brother Eye? Trusty told me the Cyborg Superman took it over a while back.
2. How's Checkmate these days? Is it still run by Maxwell Lord or has he been booted out?
3. Any word on Cadmus? or other such facilities?

Brother Eye was used to co-ordinate the OMACs during the DA arc. I think, in the end, it was destroyed. But it's definitely been used before.

Also, nobody has really used Checkmate. Since the RPG starts off post Infinite Crisis, Maxwell Lord is dead.

Also, Cadmus has been used sparingly in my time here, nothing major. It may have been used in the four season before I signed up, but I'm not sure.

Barry Allen has access to the Speed Force, an amazing energy source that gives Barry the ability of super-speed, able to reach the speed of light and beyond. He can vibrate the molecules of his body through solid matter, and can travel through time (though usually the Cosmic Treadmill is needed to do so). Barry gained these powers while working late on a stormy night at the crime lab, a lightning bolt struck the lab, and caused various chemicals in the lab to fall on Barry. With the combination of both the lightning bolt and chemicals, he was embued with superspeed. After many years of being the Flash, Barry was killed trying to stop the Anti-Monitor, and his sidekick and nephew Wally took his place. Now alive once more, Barry sets out to make the world a little better. However, the World's changed since Barry was alive, and maybe he's just not cut out for it anymore...

Will you be doing anything different with the character than is usually seen?): It's the final season, and Barry's a big player, so I hope to make good use of him and set up some new things of my own to play over the season, while continuing what's already established by the others. I'm a huge fan of the Flash, and Barry is one that I really enjoy reading about.

Everything was so much faster. 9:00am, and everybody is hurrying into work before the Boss notices. They push, they shove, not bothering about the other person, only focused on themselves. Phones are buzzing and ringing, as calls come in and texts are sent out. Was this really the same world that Barry Allen grew up in? That's what he asks himself everyday of the week.

As he pelted down the street of Central City, that's all he could think, his mind wandering from the matter at hand. Oh. He snapped himself out of his trance, and skidded to a halt, trying to think of a plan. The Mirror Master (the new one, the weirder one) was holding himself up in a bottle factory, that was closed for maintennance. Easy, if you know where it is. Barry unfortunately, didn't. He moved his head around, looking for anywhere where he could find out which way to go. Nobody had even noticed him standing there except for the impatient drivers he was blocked, and jumped to the side over to the path. Nobody would spare the time for him. As he looked around, he finally spotted a teenager on his phone by a bus stop, and ideas filled his head.

He ran over to the kid, and waved at him, trying to grab his attention. The teenager looked up and raised an eyebrow in the direction of Barry, stood there in his scarlet costume. Barry immediately pointed down at the teen's phone as soon as he got the attention he needed.

"Do me a favour kid, can you find Yarnick Bottles Factory on your phone?"

The teen looked puzzled for a moment, before nodding. "Yeah, I'll find the app..."

"...App?" Barry asked, more than a little puzzled.

"It's a couple of blocks North," the kid in front of him explained, and Barry nodded.

"Thanks, buddy."

And with that, he was gone.

I'll approve you on the condition your hang around. You have had a history of picking up characters, posting a few times, and then disappearing off the face of the Earth. We're trying to curb that behavior in all the games. Barry is a pretty big character and this is a pretty big season for us. Step up your game and let's not try to half-ass this.

When I briefly played Black Adam during the 2nd half of the Dark Alliance 2 arc I briefly had Checkmate run into Black Adam as he was saving children and mothers from this O.G.R.E II facility in the Egypt/Jordan region. All I had established were the agents I used--Tommy Jagger and Fire--so using the post-IC Checkmate organization where they have the "Rule of Two" established by Rucka's run.

Given the RPGs take off from OWAW more closely than IC technically Maxwell Lord should be alive then. People have taken bits and pieces of cannon from post-OWAW and pre and post IC but IC was never itself in RPG cannon so that's why Max should be alive still. If he runs the new Checkmate is a whole different thing but I'm not opposed to it.

The Demon's Head has always been one of my favourite characters ever since I first saw him on the excellent Batman the Animated Series, he instantly caught my attention when he invaded the Batcave and stood with a superior expression on his face, glaring at the world's greatest detective.


In terms of what I want to do with Ra's, I think he needs to be brought back into the top tier list level of Villains, with all his resources, his cunning and the Lazarus Pits to refresh him indefinitely, he needs to show the entire DC universe that they have forgotten him to their peril.

Ra's pulled himself from the bubbling chemical stew of the Lazarus Pit, his now fresh and supple skin steamed, sending green hued smoke billowing around his lair.
He straightened without a word, running a hand through his slick hair and testing his renewed muscles with a set of precise stretches. The Pit made a sickly gurgling sound as bubbles of whatever concoction lay inside it popped and burst like fresh boils.

The past 7 centuries had been kind to Ra's Al Ghul, very kind. The Demon's Head had amassed a fortune to rival the greatest Pharoh, his power base was strong and his name feared. As he readied to begin his next one hundred years he thought of The Detective, of how he had seduced his daughter Talia, the two had concieved a child together, his grandson Damien and each of them had defied him in one way or another. Ra's thought that the latest edition to his family would have been a more promising prospect, another to mould in his own image, to pass on his centuries of knowledge but he too had joined in Batman's foolish crusade to save his ailing city.


“Ubu”. He commanded not turning to his servant “Robe me”.


The servant obeyed his master's order, clothing the eco-terrorist in his customary emerald green cloak. Ubu's eyes flicked toward a plinth in the left corner of the room, which held Ra's curved scimitar. “Your blade Master?” Ubu said with a nervous quiver in his voice, watching his master regenerate always left the servant with a set of shivers running through his spine.


The cult leader thrust out his left hand, flexing his strong fingers as he continued to acclimatise himself to his new body. The effects of the Pit had once left those who utilised it temporarily insane, however as Ra's had entered his eighth century upon the earth he found the worrying side effects of the chemicals lessening, in fact it seemed that the opposite was true, rather than being a maniacal, laughing madman, he felt his sense sharpen, his eyes seemed to be able to peer into the most pitch black darkness, his mind was clear and yet it buzzed and whirled with new ideas like a hive of angry hornets.


He felt his sword enter his palm and closed his fingers around the golden grip, the blade shimmered in the pale torchlight of the Rebirthing chamber then sang an errie death song as its wielder slashed it through the air, controlling it with the precison of a conductor commanding a full orchestra.
Ra's snapped his fingers and Ubu brought him the scabbard, when the blade was thrust into its sheath Ubu used the golden coil of rope to tie it to his lord's right thigh. The servant stepped away and knelt on his right knee, not daring to gaze upon Ra's regenerated features.


“What Now Master?”Questioned Ubu.


“We have work to do” replied The Demon's Head as he swept from the room.

Another thing like I mentioned before, keep the narration text default. At the moment you have it bold it just is distracting though not as bad as when it was also all green.

Yep, Maxwell Lord should still be alive. Since his running Checkmate was a rather sudden thing, introduced shortly before Infinite Crisis, one could easily ignore it. I would hope one would. We could actually keep not-evil Max.

HOWEVER, if Lian's still around.... I would be sooooo up for playing her. I gotta tell you, it's fun to play someone that's not super powered, that's young, innocent, but still involved in the world. Gives you a fresh perspective. It's neat. ^_^

Having a PC Talia now that we also have a Ra's PC and lately we've had Damian could be real interesting. Heck, could even somehow tie in to the end of this thing byrd, Bounce, and I are doing between Damian, Jason, and Bruce as Jason as of late as taken Damian under his wing.

Barbara Gordon encounters The Batman at a early age. As she grows up she excels in school, warranting her the honor of skipping grades throughout her academic career. She also pursues martial arts and striving to become a star athlete. She initially tries to pursue a career in criminal justice as opposed to her future vigilantism as Batgirl. Her father is no longer Jim Gordon, instead being the adoptive daughter of Gordon, also being her uncle, however there has been allegations that Jim is her biological father.

She would still be Batgirl for some time, however she started to feel inadequate in a world that had heroes like Superman, Captain Marvel, and Wonder Woman. She retired from her career as Batgirl, however that did not stop violence from entering her life.

Oracle is a genius, possessing extensive knowledge in numerous different fields of study, making her an adept leader, detective, computer scientist, linguist, and combatant. Barbara decided to continue fighting crime from behind the scenes. Although she is no longer on the field fighting criminals head to head, she has shown to be one of the most resourceful and greatest crime fighters on earth. Her brilliance in computer science has allowed to direct the Birds of Prey by computer; hack the most well-protected systems; guard her own equipment from infiltration; and access security cameras and footage as effective means of surveillance and to aid in her detective work, among seemingly limitless other uses. She has formed connections with numerous different superhero teams and individuals, often times assisting them when they require information and reference. Oracle also has large databases on various superheroes and villains alike, utilizing the information she has attained in her investigations. Barbara is also a master martial artist. As Batgirl, Barbara was also a skilled acrobat. (Thanks Comicvine for the abilities and history)

I plan on making ''Oracle'' more ''Barbara'' this season and explore what she has to offer to the DCU.

I'm talking to Renee Montoya, a good friend of my father's and a good friend of mine to. We're chatting over coffee, about the recent events that were deemed as ''The Blackest Night''. It feels like a brand new age, and I'm glad I'm going to be spending it with my friends, my family, and my soon to be husband. "So how's the Gotham City Police Department holding up with all the mess? I mean, it must be hard for you guys to clean up after a near apocolypse, right?"

"You got that right. I've been working extra shifts just to clean up this damn city. What's the use of superheroes when they don't even help out with the aftermath?" We chuckle, but I know Renee's laughter has a slight hint of bitterness. I then blow gently on my steaming coffee, putting it to one side and leaning forward.

I think about all the previous events. Who perished, who rose. I was one of the lucky ones. Selina Kyle, Catwoman, now unable to have children during a battle with Harleen Quinzel, former villain, former Star Sapphire. The world had changed before my eyes, and I didn't like it. But there was nothing I could do. I could only hide, take the survivors in. But I couldn't fight. I couldn't go out there and blast the souless creatures with my heat ray, I couldn't go out there and wrap them up in my Lasso Of Truth, I couldn't go out there and throw my bat-a-rangs around.

All I could do was wait. "Did you ever encounter one of...them."

Renee bows her head down. It's probably a difficult question for her to answer. Before I can retract my question, Renee pipes up and takes a loud slurp of her coffee, staring me directly in to my eyes."Detective Bennett. My old partner. We use to work together, me, Bennett and Yin. That was before I decided we'd bust a drug joint, despite your father telling me it was a wrong move. He was right. I came out alive with a few scratches and grazes, but the two of them weren't so lucky. Bennett died and Yin fell in to a coma. She's still in it from what I hear--"

I interrupt Montoya quickly and calmly, taking her soft palm in to my hands. "You don't have to tell me, Renee. We've all done things we aren't proud of. Me being one of them. That Black Lantern was not Bennett, it was a souless minion belonging to Darkseid. What ever made up the good qualities of that man were gone, and there was nothing you could do about it."

She smiles and finally perks up. She takes one last sip of her coffee, before sliding it across the table. Her chesnut brown hair gently falls in front of her forehead. Her eyebrows being to raise and her eyes shine like the sun. I finally grasp what's caught her attention. My ring. "Is this the ring? Barbara, that's one heck of a shiner! How did he afford that!?"

I laugh quietly and smile. The subject's quickly changed, so I carry it on quickly. "I don't know and hopefully, I never will. I'll just shut up and smile and enjoy having this lovely reminder of me and Dick's everlasting love."

We continue to chat about various other things. The news, the crime, heroes, the weather, and just a general catch-up. The topic of me joining the police force is quickly brought up and forgotten, then again with the Birds of Prey, which I'm quick to dismiss. By the time Renee's left, I finally remember the coffee I made two hours ago. I look over at the once warm liquid. What are you doing with your life, Barbara?

Also, I am interested in this, but this week is my surgery rotation at school (a series of dumb mistakes, bad decisions and plain old rotten luck has caused me to repeat a quarter, so I'm doing it again), so I may not be putting up an application until later this week.

No. I was basically me failing because I missed one too many of the homeworks, which I had done, but left at home in my rush to get to a test that was so important, if I were late, I may not have been able to take it and would've failed anyway.
