Anyone think it was a Tea Bagger ? I can't see a member of a drug cartel doing this because the US military would land on them with both feet.

Media will certainly discuss that next week. Poor choice on whoever did that, hopefully it played no part in the shooting. SarahPAC.com is also down.

19 people were shot in total, 5 have died, the Congresswoman is in surgery as we speak. One man is in custody, and there is a "possible" 2nd gunman.

A press conference will be in 10 minutes...I'm sure any major news outlet you watch will have it.

Senseless to say the least. Just terrible. The best aspect of our country has always been the unspoken acceptance of our ways from both sides, regardless of disagreements.

She was a democrat in Arizona. I hate to make assumptions, but this was no doubt politically motivated. I jut hope this does not start a trend.

It is very easy at these types of events, #1 in many places its not against the law....

I'm not familiar with her "Your Corner" events, but it being at a Safeway Grocery Store, it would be very easy to bring a gun in....

How easy is it to bring a gun into any store? This would be no different...

I had never heard of these "Congress at your Corner" events....a news conference from law enforcement is supposed to be upcoming, but not sure about the time

I would assume they are very much like town hall events.

Linda Lopez another Arizona State Senator and her best friend says the following:

*she was shot in the temple...she died at the scene but was revived. (This has not been substantiated, but it looks like she was revived at the hospital).
*she was in surgery...
*she is responding to verbal commands at the hospital.
*Apparently these "Your Corner" events are much like a book signing, people line up for hours to speak with her. She does these quite often.
*other staff members were shot, one she knows of is in worse shape than the senator.
*some may have died, but names have not been given because families have not been notified.

She (the state Senator Lopez) has heard that the shooter was an Afghanistan Veteran, but that is all that she has heard as far as a description of him.

How easy is it to bring a gun into any store? This would be no different...

But with a member of congress I'd expect alot of security. I'm just really shocked. I don't know her politics at all but this shouldn't have happened.

what makes me shudder is that eyewitness reports are that the shooter walked right up to the Congresswoman and shot her first, then opened fire

4 federal law enforcement sources have confirmed to an Arizona news reporter that the federal judge is dead. His name was John Roll. Here's a bit about him:

my guess is that he was tossed in a cell and will not be processed until later today

at a guess, Id say they are waiting to see what happens with the Congresswoman and the other victims
