I have friends that would have preferd this to be like left 4 dead with graphics of the tv show rather than the comics, i still have faith that this will be creative and great

Through the first episode, we learn that the game takes place in the very early days of the apocalypse, with Rick Grimes still in a coma. And we'll get to see what Glenn and Herschel were up to during the first days of the zombie outbreak. The slightly cartoony cel-shaded art style of the game seems to work really well, I really like it. Can't wait for the next episode of Playing Dead.

But, but, Valve made them. Valve are run by a bunch of half men, half god's. Valve made L4D. You aren't allowed to hate those games that were made by Valve.


On topic tho, i was afraid they were gonna go for a more cartoony look. Unless the gameplay ends up being out of this world good, then i most likely will end up passing.

Seriously, the only Half Life I cared about was the first.. The second bored me to tears. Left 4 Dead was a point A to point B game.. Portal 1 and 2 were funny games.. However they got stale real quick.

If having to like Valve is a requirement for a "gamer card" I will gladly shred mine

Edit: I don't HATE valve.. They do good things for gaming and whatnot.. I just find their games to be insanely over rated.

I also tend to get annoyed by their rabbit fans... Which are just as bad as Apple yuppie and PC gaming snobs.

I had a nice post all ready typed up, I even made a dumb joke about your misspelling of "rabid", but Safari gave me a big middle finger and crashed just before I hit "submit reply". But the basic gist of it was that I was kidding before, but I do find it odd when people don't like Valve. I then gave examples of how inventive their gameplay concepts are and how they're the best story-tellers in the industry, and then I said something about rabbits and squirrels.

I dont hate Valve, i like Gabe Newell, i just haven't really liked any of their games. I mean i guess L4D is kinda fun to play with your buddies, but i dont care for Portal, or Half Life. I haven't play Team Fortress but, I'm not a fan of its art style.

Same goes for TellTale. I guess they are a good dev, I'm just not crazy about the style of their games. Rather it be Back to the Future or the Jurassic Park game. Its why my interest in this game has dropped. Not really a fan of that art style.

Over-rated? Alot of the games you are enjoying today are most likely influenced by games Valve have published.

Of course you do, it's also the opening of Arkham Asylum, Bioshock and Call Of Duty 4! And indeed Arkham Citys opening is infuenced by Halflife 2. The opening has a section that is almost a direct copy paste. And indeed the games end area with Protocal 10's goons mashing up the city while you are being spoken through a television screen by Dr Hugo Strange slowly making your way towards him within his layer, is practically copy pasted from the later levels of Halflife 2. Much like Halflife 2, you also make your way directly vertically up towards the "dun dun dunnnn" final fight. Most likely ripped off as well.

Also heres a comparison between Halflife 2 (now seven years old) and a modern FPS.

I still don't like the visual style they're going with, but everything else about the game seems interesting.
