I would agree...I remember during his stand up he talked about hosting the VMAs and he questioned why he was being asked, as no one in America really knew who he was...but he was like "they offered me a lot of money, so of course I said yes"

I'm sad that I will never get to see the "Fatty Arbuckle Movie" that Chris Farley and Peter Weir were going to do, right before Farley's untimely demise

I think it could have been the "Raging Bull" of Silent Films Comedians or something along those lines.

Yeah, Farley was supposed to play Roscoe "Fattie" Arbuckle right before he died, in a biopic directed by Weir. I like when comedians do dramatic roles.
Unfortunately it didn't happen.

I really like actors who can play good guys and villains. Some of my favorites are Robert Ryan, an underrated actor, and John Lightgow.
Speaking of Lightgow I really love the early De Palma movies. Specially Phantom of the Paradise, Carrie and Blow Out.

Lithgow is awesome in pretty much everything....and people laughed at him when he jumped to TV...who knew that would start a trend of film actors jumping to TV

Loved Lithgow in both Third Rock and Dexter. I remember when I first found out that Lithgow was gonna be in Dexter, and laughed. "That guy from Third Rock?" I said. Then he silenced me within after the first scene with him in Dexter.

OK, so who's the actor who transitioned best from TV to the big screen? Probably Bruce Willis, but my personal favorite is Woody Harrelson. What a great actor.
I wish he would play Bullseye some day.

I loved Lithgow in Footloose. That was a character that could have just been played as stereotype (strict preacher won't let the kids have a senior prom), but he was really a good guy. You felt bad for him, in reality he was hiding behind an old rule because he was hurting from losing his son and didn't want to see another accident. It was really a great role, and he did a great job with it.

I got to see him on Broadway once, playing the Michael Caine role in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. He was awesome. The cast recording has a spoiler alert: it's a recording of Lithgow warning everyone that the next song gives away the twist at the end, so if they haven't already seen the show to stop there and order tickets.

He also says that if the listener has already seen the show, play on and order tickets to see it again. "Preferably at full price. I have children in college. And a mortgage. And I'm a bit of a clothes horse. Thank you."

I wish I had seen that. John Lightgow is the Man. Like I said before there is nothing he can't play, kinda like John C. Reilly or Woody Harrelson.
From comedy to drama, they can do everything. I love actors of that caliber. Gene Hackman was like that too. From French Connection to The Bird Cage, what a range. I miss Gene Hackman
