This is a pretty good take on a heroic theme for those who want to get away from the normal fanfare hero theme, while making it contemporary for todays GA.

I love it, but it doesn't seem to capture superman to me...maybe it's just me

ScreenRant.com reports that composer Hans Zimmer told media at a recent press junket that he may not end up working on "Man of Steel".
Zimmer said that Man of Steel is "in direct [scheduling] conflict" with another project he is working on; so, while he may ultimately work on that Snyder-directed film, Zimmer is not actively involved with the creative process on that comic book flick (for the time being).



I thought he had already said he wasn't doing MOS???

Same here. Because it wasn't Howard, right? Since they worked together for Nolan's bat-movies I can't tell the difference between them.

It's saying he's not signed on to work on it at the moment, but that it MAY still happen. It's up in the air but not looking likely. And yes, had also previously said he wasn't doing it. He simply got asked the question again. In short, nothing has changed.

They usually hire a composer during post-production, and while some movies do employ composers during filming -- the bulk of the composer's hiring comes during the last few months of production.

I wonder who were Snyder's picks after Zimmer. Please God, don't let it be Tyler Bates.

It just seems by the way Zimmer talks about the project that he's already been asked, and can't do because of scheduling conflicts. Hopefully that's not the case, because I don't want a Zimmer type score.

Yes.

Jeffrey Taylor is an admin at the Superman Homepage, and he visited the set. It's safe to say Zimmer was Snyder's first choice.

You know Zimmer has copycats all over the place, right? Regardless if Zimmer works on the film or not, we will probably get a similar style if he was Snyder's first choice.

Not the usual go to guy for this sort of thing, but There Will Be Blood was amazing. Seems to me Snyder would dig working with him. He's the perfct anti-Williams. (and i love me some John Williams scores) but for a 21st century Superman, I'd like the music to be far more daring and evocative, and not a pale imitation. My two cents...

That would be cool. Something completely left-of-center, and not what you would immediately think of. I would love a weirdo like Greenwood, or Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, or even a more orchestral guy like Carter Burwell, whose still a weirdo.

Aim for the fences. Failure is an option, but fear isn't.

some may laugh but i say give it to danny elfman i just listened to his Real steel score and my god what an uplifting inspirational score he put together

I think Elfman is just burnt out on superhero movies (hence why he hasn't scored any comic-book movies in the past several years). I think if he was offered the chance, he would probably turn it down. Unless he's dying to work with the producers (i.e. Nolan), I think he'd be out.

Patrick Doyle would be a nice choice. He did go MV/Zimmer partially for Thor and Planet of the Apes -- so it's possible WB could "suggest" him. I wouldn't be opposed to having an MV alumnus, Trevor Morris, scoring it either. I was impressed with his score to Immortals, which also starred Cavill (coincidentally, he also scored The Tudors as well).
