totally backtracking, but i just read Casey's "Poptopia" and i was surprised by how much i enjoyed it. when i got into X-Men Austen was trying to kill Havok with Polaris and Warren was banging Cannonball's baby sister so this wasnt a fond memory in X-history for and i pretty much avoided it during all my collecting. everyone only ever talks about Morrison's New X-Men but i enjoyed this first story more than his first arc "E for Extinction" (and it should be noted that im a known non-fan of Morrison's work, but i did enjoy some things about his run including his first arc). i think im willing to see what else Casey did before Austen took over.

well if i remember correctly he's bald now.

with Emma, personally i preferred it when she wore pants with that costume. im assuming they wanna call back to her White Queen days giving her thigh high boots and booty shorts, but i like to think after her time with Gen X and the questionable outfits she wore with Morrison she's matured since then.

Yeah, he hasn't had that much panel time since Carey first took over (sans adjective) X-Men.

Finally read uncanny 544. I'm a tad torn. I hate to see Hank and Scott on such bad terms but I def. enjoyed the ending. Plus anytime there's bobby I'm thrilled.

Hank's a little *****. I dont know why he showed up. He came back just to leave again? If he's moved on then he needs to just do that. He was annoying

Boy did Bobby steal the issue. He was great and its refreshing him be more of the focus. I really loved him.

Overall I thought it was a great final issue. I glad KG kept the character count real low. We got to see more of a character driven issue which was very focused and effective. Im glad they werent fighting Sinister as I thought they would have. Theres time for that later on

Land draws a really crappy Sinister. Except for on the two-page spread, which looked really nice all in all.

I can buy that.

I'm all for character development in comics. Especially with my x-men. While I didn't initially buy it I'm happy to see Logan to go back and re open the school. While initially I thought he did it more to atone for his past sins, I think he's reached the point where he feels he NEEDS the institute. This concept of him being a bad ass loner's long gone. (Of course all this could be horse**** and the editors at marvel just feel the need to have logan front and center of everything). Naming it after Jean is a nice little dig at Scott but shows he's still holding on to the past.

Hank going back to the school did seem a little off. Dude's been gone so long, seems to have moved on in life to Avenger-land and all of the sudden he comes back to the school.

Bobby doesn't seem to ever want to grow up. I suppose that's part of his charm and I'd be lying if I said that wasn't one of the reasons that I like him, but he's clearly not a grown up. He's along for the ride right now.

What an amazing book. I havent felt this good about UXM in a LONG time. I think Gillen has finally found his footing and managed to make this book his own. I like the new direction and clear focus he has for this book. Before it felt like remnants of Fraction's awful run but this book felt fresh and exciting.

Best line had to come from Storm: "Let's play a game...raise your hand if you've never gone througha stage that others characterized as "mainly super villian. Your hand's up Scott. Are you absolutely sure it should be?" LOL

Pacheco's art was absolutely solid. Such an upgrade from Land and Dodson. I especially liked his Scott in this issue

Didn't we get Darwin so we wouldn't have to deal with Lifeguard again?
