I liked Red Skull. Mainly due to Hugo Weaving's performance. But otherwise he was a pretty weak villain, he didn't really feel like he was Cap's worst enemy. I appreciated the fact that he was more like the classic '80's' cartoon villain though. It's been a long time since we've seen a proper villain like that.

I said Twice, Shaw only run once not twice unlike Red Skull.

He still ran. Since he ran once, if the situation arose he obviously would again. I don't see how running twice makes Red Skull a bad character but Shaw running is fine since he didn't do it twice.

I really loved Hugo's performance as the Red Skull. He wasn't the most complex villain, more like the classic 'take over the world' villain, but I thought he pulled it off nicely. I really hope we see more of him and get a chance to see him explore the character more, it seems pretty clear to me that the ending left it wide open for them to explain him returning.

Yeah he has a classic menacing Bond villain feel to him. I felt that he was plenty evil and controlling but he fit in well with the "innocent" and "retro" nature of this film. He's no Hans Landa or Amon Goeth and I never expected him to be. I wanted a comic book villain that fit in with this universe.

I liked him mainly because Hugo Weaving was playing him. But as a villain he was only ok. Not that memorable.

Problem was they pretty much took most of the Nazi elements from Red Skull. So he was just a guy looking for a Cube. That doesn't help creating interesting dialogue with Cap where he would say he is superior, that the German model is superior, that he would fail, that America would fail etc...Hell the Skull wanted to destroy Germany too! lol That's why when Skull had Cap in front of him there was no memorable classic dialogue and all they did was look at each other for a long long time. Poor Hugo.

I think he still had the militaristic elements and the mean spirited, harsh, self-admiring nature of a Nazi. I'm sure if they wanted him to be a Nazi he would have been. They wanted him to be MORE than that and be a greater global threat. Hugo did great. Stole the show.

No they didn't. He wore a had with a swastika on it, he was the head of the NAZI deep science program. His character was obsessed with genetic superiority, which fits in perfectly with the mindset of a Nazi.

The new issue of Make-Up Artist Magazine features the Red Skull on it's cover and has some nice behind the scenes photos inside. They also cover the make-ups for the new X-Men, Green Lantern, etc.

Guy probably meant an imminent global threat while the Nazis at the particular time were more regional with their sights on the global eventually.

Magneto in First Class wasn't a villain. He was a co-protagonist. The antagonist of First Class was Sebastian Shaw.

At times, he sounded just like Willem Dafoe .

Until the end. Once Shaw was dead, Magneto took over. And it wasn't until that point that he truly became Magneto.

You know what he means. He may not have been the antagonist of that particular movie, but he definitely was a villain. Meaning, his views were definitely the views of a typical movie villain.

Nah, he wasn't a villain in my book. There was nothing villainous in his views or actions. It was all revenge and at the very end self preservation. That to me doesn't qualify him as a villain in this movie. Bad ass yes, villain nope.

But he still wasn't the film's antagonist. He was still a protaginst. Just one who went down a darker path. Doesn't make him a villain in that film.

That means nothing. In this film, the views of both Xavier and Magneto were represented and they had opposing conclusions given their personal struggles. That doesn't make him a villain in this film. He becomes Magneto, yes. But, in this film, he wasn't THE villain. He was a co-protagonist, and for that reason, I can't count him as a villain. X1-X3, villain. FC, not villain.
