****ing stupid. And I say this as a person who's always been willing to give SOME leeway in the transition from page to film. But this is off the charts. This is like making Superman the result of a genetic experiment instead of a man from Krypton.

As a fan of the original Eastman & Laird turtles I knew I wasn't going to be a part of the target audience for this movie, since the cartoons and live action versions have aways been more popular. But this is a big middle finger from Bay to everyone who was ever a TMNT fan. Someone needs to put this man's ego in check. It's ridiculous.

At least the first film and TMNT had Eastman and Laird undertones while ditching the gratuitous violence. But this? This is ridiculous.

The only positive thing I can see coming out of this news is that the reaction has been basically universally negative. Hell TMNT was trending on twitter with negative responses on this. Maybe Paramount will take note.

This is a battle the fans won't win. Paramount and Nick won't stop a man with a franchise that has made $2,669,760,469 collectively.

I've said this before but it needs to be said again. I remember so many people were angry about the first Transformers film but it hardly stopped the ball from rolling and now that Bay has actually proven these movies are BO proof, they won't even consider telling him what direction to go in.

A director can make a success of one franchise and fail with another.

Kind of like Bryan Singer with X-Men and then Superman Returns. Though obviously this is a much much much worse scenario.

While I agree there's not much hope, I think comparing TMNT to Transformers would be a moronic move for a studio to make. Transformers is an easy sell to today's audiences. Giant robots fighting each other with awesome special effects and all that?

Easy, easy sell.

Giant ninja turtles fighting other ninjas? Not so easy. Especially with the level of quality most comic book films have reached today.

But, I'm sure if they slap Bay's name on it his roaming band of zombie movie-goers will go, so who knows.

Yeah, this is one of the best recent examples of a completely unnecessary change.

If you're sitting in a Teenage Mutant Turtles movie and thinking to yourself: "Mutants? Pffft. This is SO far-fetched!" then you, my friend, are in the wrong movie.
