This *kind of* belongs here:

Quote:
Marvel, NBA Teaming Up To Blend Comics, Athletics

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - What's big, green and has a history of being unstoppable? The incredible Hulk and the NBA's Boston Celtics.

Which is why Marvel Entertainment LLC and the National Basketball Association are launching a new line of clothing, including caps, T-shirts and sweat shirts, at the upcoming NBA All-Star game later this month. The line pairs famous super heroes with famous NBA teams, including Spider-Man and the Knicks, and features other heroes from Thor to Captain America and Iron Man dressed in NBA team colors.

The super-hero-inspired line will ultimately be sold nationwide in an array of NBA cities, as well as online and in traditional stores.

Lisa Piken, senior director of appareling for the NBA, said the company's history of comics "gears toward children and young kids, and we like that as well, particularly the teamwork and having superpowers (and) we can tie that back to how our players are."

The collection will launch with headwear and apparel, including headware by New Era and shirts and sweatshirts by C-Life. Sizes will range from infants to adults.

Marvel, which is owned by The Walt Disney Co., and the NBA said Monday they ultimately plan to expand the line to include sporting goods.

In a nod to Marvel's New York roots, sporting goods store Modell's and Madison Square Garden, where the Knicks play, will launch the New York collection and the Staples Center will be the first destination for L.A. Lakers co-branded merchandise to debut at the NBA All-Star game on Feb. 20.

"We decided, for instance, it makes the most sense for the Knicks to have Spider-Man since he's associated with New York City," Paul Gitter, president of Marvel Entertainment's consumer products for North America, told The Associated Press. "When you look at characters such as the Hulk, you look at Green and you think Boston Celtics. There is a method to the madness."

Never understand why teams "throwback" to either when they were teams from another city or a team they never were like some of those Negro league uni's teams wear?

Throwing back to your former city is ridiculous in and of itself, and its a smack in the face of said former city.

It's especially ridiculous when the team's previous city has a new franchise in place. I'm looking at you, Tennessee Titans wearing Houston Oilers throwbacks. But yeah, I can't imagine being a fan of a relocated team and being thrilled that they're wearing a uniform in their new city to 'honor' an old one.

Looks like the Buffalo Bills will have new uniforms this year (thank god). Apparently it will be a return to their more classic colors, let's hope no more navy blue

RIP, most terrible uniforms in the NFL. Your 18 shades of blue will be sorely missed.

I'm sure they'll take a page out of San Fran's book and mix old and new.

These new Bills uniforms are clearly modeled after the later Simpson-era design, including the white helmet, but they’ve been updated to include a tiny amount of navy blue trim.
In my opinion, the navy blue is probably not necessary, but the uniforms do look quite good, and any sort of socks are an upgrade in my book. I wish they would update that darn logo, though. I’ve always preferred the solid red standing buffalo to the blue leaping buffalo, but I don’t think the retro logo works seamlessly with this new set, either. It is what it is. An upgrade, for sure.

Why can't an NHL goalie come up with a mask that is painted like themselves? That way it looks like they aren't wearing a anything. Old School.

Come on that'd be sweet!

Angels wearing throwbacks every Friday this season.

D-Backs will also take a break from wearing their Houston Astro knockoffs to wear their old purple digs to honor the 10 year anniversary of winning the WS.

Carey Price's Heritage Classic Mask. Ala Jacque Plante.

Granted Steve Shields Mask for Gerry Cheevers is still better.

those masks of other people's heads always freak me the hell out. Sort of like Leatherface wearing his victim's face as a mask.

If I was a goalie I'd just paint the mask to look like my face. That way it would be like I wasn't wearing one.

Wait.... I may have said that before in here.

Well it didn't take long for the Tampa Bay Lightning to revamp the new unis.

Tampa Bay Presents Final 2011-12 Jersey Systems to NHL

Incorporates Lightning Bolt on Pants and the Reintroduction of Black as a Trim Color, Paying Homage to the Team’s History and Heritage

Wednesday, 02.23.2011 / 4:10 PM / News
Tampa Bay Lightning
The Tampa Bay Lightning submitted its final approved jersey systems to the National Hockey League today and have elected to reintroduce the color black into the home and road jerseys as a trim color, along with a white lightning bolt along the side of the pants each player wears, chief executive officer Tod Leiweke announced today. The lightning bolt replaces a white stripe that had been in the original uniform design.
Revised Systems

“After our multiple announcements in the past weeks we listened, as we always will, to feedback from our stakeholders,” said Leiweke. “While we have received overwhelmingly positive response regarding the direction Jeff Vinik is taking this franchise, we did hear from some fans regarding the traditions of black and a bolt on our pants. Thus, after consultation with the NHL and our design team, we are adding black as a third accent color and an elegant white bolt to our pant.
“While we are committed to pushing our franchise to new heights, we will forever honor the 2004 Stanley Cup and the other traditions and great efforts of those before us. The addition of the lightning bolt and the incorporation of black trim is an opportunity to send a message to Phil Esposito and the other pioneers that Lightning history will always be a part of who we are.”
The Lightning’s blue and white primary and secondary logos will not change. Black will be used in the uniform system to outline the white Lightning bolt adorning the side of the pants and it will trim the player numbers on the upper arms and back of the home and road jerseys. Gloves will also feature some black in their design. All other aspects of the jersey systems will remain.
The team also announced that it intends on continuing to wear its current third jersey at select home games in future years.

It's an improvement, however everything that's white should be outlined with black for consistency including the jersey and sock stripes and the logo, not just the numbers and the pants lightning.

I guess that means the Hulk wont win fights anymore.

BTW, the ball in Iron Mans hand is metal so he"s using magnetism so it wont leave his glove.

Rulk=Clippers. Fun to look at but doesn't amount to much in the end.

Shouldn't the Celtics get The Hulk? You know like Garnett with the banging his chest, being green and also being awesome.
The Spurs got Silver Surfer because he's so awesome but you know there's better characters out there.

The Thor looks awesome, though.
