Either way, if it's really getting under people's skin, it's enough. Assy, quit being a jerk; Mysti, quit letting him get to you.
Walter West was an alternate universe version of Wally whose Linda Park--the woman our Wally marries and eventually starts a family with--got killed. Walter dedicates himself to mastering the Speed Force and starts a personal war against all of his rogues. Our Wally and Linda wound up in Walter's universe and Wally convinced him that murdering rogues was not the way to avenge Linda, restoring his heroic nature. Later on, Wally winds up getting lost in the Speed Force after a big speedster event called "Chain Lightning," and Walter shows up in our DC universe. He keeps his identity hidden to all but a few and begins investigating what happened to our Wally. Awesomeness ensues because, although Walter's a hero again, he's still vastly more powerful than any other speedster and not nearly as nice about dealing with rogues as our Wally is. In short, he's basically the answer to the question, "What if the Flash were an absolute badass?"

I picked up the first trade (Amazon had the HC for under $10, so I figured what the hell), and it was pretty decent. I can see where the criticism of decompression came from, though. It was a full eight issues, but I blew through the whole thing in no time at all. Loved the art by Manapul and Kollins, of course. I don't know jack about Brightest Day, so when they started up with that I was pretty lost, but the whole thing with The Renegades was pretty neat.

So after seeing some posts saying that Barry's run had gotten pretty decent I decided I'd check the first six out to see for myself. I didn't share that opinion. My expectations for Flashpoint have dropped even lower. Which I guess could be a good thing if I decide to give it Johns another chance again.

I honestly think that people who don't like the current Flash book are the same people who don't like Green Lantern and that is simply because of a dislike towards the main title character as opposed to actual flaws in the story.
Even though I would have liked to have Wally continue on as the core Flash, I've been finding the current run on the Flash mythos to be pretty damn good. |

I don't like the current Flash book, but I love the Green Lantern stuff. Of course I've always been a Hal fan just as much as a Kyle fan.

Barry wasn't what I disliked. It was everything around Barry that ranged from "meh" to not good.

That is awesome purely by virtue of prominently featuring Captain Cold. Now, the Rogue hands reaching for him, you've got Weather Wizard one one end, Mirror Master on the other. Next to them you've got Tar Pit (or maybe Heat Wave, if they have him looking really odd in this continuity), and Trickster, but I am having an absolute brain fart as to who is in the middle.

Citizen Cold looks cool. I'm looking forward to Kolins' writing. Hope it's as good as his art.
