pretty much.

I mean I do like if something is good that the filmmakers are rewarded whether through good box office or awards. But I wouldnt say I CARE about either. I just want to enjoy movies

I think they'll try and pull the old lifetime achievement out their ass if he ends up in his 60s and hasn't gotten it yet.

I like to see people rewarded and acknowledged for the good work they've done, especially if it's great movies that didn't set the box office on fire.

I really liked Warm Bodies. Granted, I thought the book was way better (the book has more of a sardonic tone, which I find to be hilarious), but I thought the movie was good!

I think that movie is evidence that the whole concept of "girl falls in love with monster" thing isn't the reason why something like Twilight sucks. There's a way to do it right, which Warm Bodies did and Twilight did not.

Hear, hear.

I have never watched the Oscars the entire way. I've seen bits and pieces, but I've had zero desire to sit through all of it.

Okay, okay. When I said "looks like", I meant as the whole package. Lubezki is never anything short of excellent.

As you said it doesnt mean much. He still is arguably the best actor of his generation and arguably one of the best period.
I find the memes annoying for that very reason. he's been nominated so many times, so they should realize how much he's accomplished off of just that.

Where they give him the Oscar for what is comparitavely one of his weaker roles, but feel like they absolutely have to because no other performance that year was truly standout?

I still hate how they kinda did this with Lord of the Rings. Instead of acknowledging it with awards for Fellowship and/or Two Towers, they just waited and gave everything to Return of the King, basically as an acknowledgement of the entire series. I loved Return of the King (the whole serie is great, some of my favorite movies ever), but hated it getting best song over A Mighty Wind.

Continuing with my LOTR ranting...

I'm still mad that Sean Astin wasn't nominated for supporting actor.

The Matrix Reloaded is awesome. Not better than the 1st but probably my favorite to watch of the trilogy.

"What We Do in the Shadows" is possibly one of my favorite vampire films.

I'd say that's probably only unpopular because it's not a well known movie. I think it's rare to hear a negative thing about What We Do in The Shadows from people who have seen it. Heck, in my experience if the movie does come up in conversation it's usually in the context of a recommendation.

I keep meaning to watch again! Really great movie, and strangely one of the more 'realistic' takes on being a vampire.

True, good point. It's in my Top 10 Vampire films with Let the Right One In, The Fearless Vampire Killers, Nosferatu, Dracula and a few others.

Speaking of vampires, I thought that Tom Cruise gave a great, underrated performance as Lestat in "Interview with a Vampire."
And also I liked John Carpenter's Vampires.

Vampire's Kiss is the true king of vampire movies.

Cruise always gives a great performance in his movies I feel; I mean a lot of the time the movies aren't good, but even with that said, I can't say I've ever really seen him half-ass any of his roles.

I also enjoyed Carpenter's Vampires.
