Escape from Tomorrow. Cleverly made, but wow that was bad.

The Colony - Blend together a bunch of other sci-fi movies and you've got this very weak, bottom of the bargain-bin type movie that goes nowhere with its interesting concept about survival in during the next Ice Age (which is undermined by the film's last half, which decides to turn into a generic run-of-the-mill zombie film). You're never given a chance to relate or connect to the characters in any way, and the effects are laughable, don't watch this movie (unless you feel like wasting your time on something you'll swear you've seen a hundred times before, but done better... much better than this shlock).

Beautiful Creatures - so bad I'm mad I wasted any time on this.

Yeah, that's gotta be one of the blandest films I've ever seen. It's like they thought Twilight was too heart-racing and set out to be more boring. And succeeded beyond their wildest dreams.

The Mist

I couldn't finish it. As soon as that octopus creature was revealed to be the cause of everything, it lost that sense of mystery and danger. Perhaps there is more to the story than that, but I had no patience to find out.

The octopus is not the cause of everything. You should give it another chance.

I most likely will at some point. It didn't help that I was watching the film in poor quality that particular night either.

'Nurse' or 'Nurse 3D', whatever you want to call it.

Some of the dodgiest acting I've ever seen and it's got that Paz de la Weirdface in it... I couldn't even finish the damn movie.

You're in the wrong thread.
Just kidding, to each their own of course.
I really liked Live and Let Die and The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker was too campy and comedic for me. (And what a waste of a great villain with what they did with "Jaws".)

Mediocre movie but with probably my favourite classic-Bond movies ever. If it came out in the 90s it would be considered if not a classic then at least equal to Goldeneye.

I get chills with this film in certain scenes like the ending with the engine oil and when Mathis dies.

Mars Attacks. Even more infuriating since the Martians are so great in it
But the humans are such annoying, walking cliches and buffoons that the film is almost unwatchable.

I always felt that was part of the humor. Like Burton almost wants the audience to enjoy watching the Martians zap people with their ray guns.

Good point It also felt to me a bit like Burton was maybe aiming for a kinda "Dr Strangelove" satirical vibe which would have been great if the characters hadn't been so over the top and generic at the same time and the story so thin as well. Like I said I loved the Martians though, their world, technology, humor etc... I'd love to see another film with them

I always thought that was the point of the film, to make fun of a situation like that involving that amazing cast. To see Jack Nicholson, Pierce Brosnan, Michael Fox, Danny DeVito in that martian invasion playing this weird characters was, I think, the fun part. It also helps that the aliens themselves are creepy and sadistic as hell.
I usually don't like Burton very much, but I think Mars Attacks is supossed to be fun, knowing it has a sense of humor.

I caught it again on TV a couple of days ago and I agree what an amazing cast, I had even forgotten that Michael J. Fox and Natalie Portman were in it. I just wish that such a stellar cast had more to do than just ham it up with cliche characters. It feels to me that Burton's attention, talent and interest went more to the martians and their culture, which was awesome, weird and original than to the human characters or to the story itself (also satire is hard to do.) But I get you and Figs' point and it's cool that both of you liked the film
What a great soundtrack too. I also really liked Brosnan in it, an underrated comedic talent imo.
