Maybe so... but I wanted his cap tenure to last a good while. Not become a cheap ploy to get steve back into his costume in time for his movie

Not only that but they didn't have to kill him to get him out of uniform. After his trial it was already going to be tough to keep him as Cap. I've been *****ing about this a lot lately, Marvel would rather kill somebody that come up with another idea for them. It's lazy. Death in Marvel comics went from being a major thing to being a junk drawer they can throw things in and pull them out a few years later.

Brubaker said it's all part of his plan, so I'm just waiting to see how it turns out. If he leaves Captain America and Bucky's still in his grave, I'll start b****ing about it then. But frankly I'd be incredibly shocked if that scenario actually came to pass.

I think Bru said it WAS all part of the plan. That means, he always wanted to put Bucky back 6 feet under. Actually, it was a long time ago he was supposed to die but the success of the Cap killed saga prolonged that.

Yeah, Bru has claimed all along that the Bucky-as-Cap thing only lasted as long as it did because he kept finding more stories to tell with it. But even so, I doubt he intends to keep Bucky dead again forever. And even if he does, Bucky's proved successful enough that Marvel would want to bring him back at some point.

still feels like a cheap ploy though... and that doesn't sit well with me. I was really liking steve and bucky in there new roles. For once they were characters i was happy with taking on new identities.

I'm glad Steve's back as Cap, personally. He never really fit the bill for shady top intelligence agent/leader of a superhero army the way Nick Fury does. He lacks the moral ambiguity that makes that role really compelling, and I certainly wouldn't want to see that ambiguity applied to him in order to make him fit.
I would like Bucky to be around as something else, but I'm still pretty well convinced that his death is temporary, so it's not a big deal. Cap or Bucky, it's Brubaker's stories with Cap that I'm enjoying more than anything else, so I'm good with the current status quo.

Totally agree 100%. I said in this weeks B/T that Cap seems stuck in neutral right now. Killing Bucky hurt the character. He's in risk of losing the fan base he gained as Cap. You bring him back in 2 years and try to sell an ongoing with him as the star, not everyone is going to come back and care. I will personally, but a small percentage will be over it and won't want to pick up another $4 title.

![]() haha, im actually going to say no to that. Comics are imo in sort of a death spiral "trap". Where fans tend to hate change.. but to be honest.. most of the best stories in comic history are WHEN things changed. We're in a world where DC reboots itself every 20 years.. and marvel thankfully has not. But marvel is now stuck with every change they make.. fans want things back the "old ways" hell .. look at spidey.. fans hated the marriage.. then fan loved the marriage, then it was taken away.. and now you have a fan base that's still divided. Peter is not allowed to grow up, and many other characters arn't allowed to grow either. Things move forward (very briefly) then are just suddenly yanked backwards. Im all for evolving.. but do so in a way where it feels natural. Bucky/Cap was one of those natural evolution things to me.

And Steve becoming head of SHIELD (or whatever it was) was even more of a natural evolution. And now it's gone......all because of a stupid movie that I'm going to see 300 times and love. Stupid awesome Cap movie!

Eh, I guess Cap is just one of my personal sacred cows. I always thought of Steve as Cap and Bucky as a fill-in. So the fact that we've actually gone back to that status quo now is not a big deal for me.

Great, the X-Men show up. This already overly angsty series is about to get 350% angstier.

The Avengers are overly-bloodthirsty. Perhaps the X-Men will be super-compassionate(like Care Bears) and want to help rehabilitate Wanda.

Cyc seems overly pissed off at mags. I love how if this was any other characters off spring,.. the heroes would totally be ok with trying to rehabilitate her.

I love that Rogue, a character who can't touch anyone without killing them, makes sure to have an X on the chest of her uniform and then keep it zipped so low that it can't be seen. So she can show the boobies you can't touch. Tease.
At any rate, the last issue of A:TCC was the best of the series, so hopefully this isn't too bad. I do have to wonder about what Cyclops and Magneto are arguing about. CYCLOPS: "You maniac! How dare you manipulate and endanger the lives of teenagers!" MAGNETO: "Exactly how many of Academy X are buried on your campus burial grounds? The last time I almost got a 13 year old killed, I RETIRED! For you, that's a Wednesday!" WOLVERINE: "Can I stab Wanda now?" MAGNETO: "No!" IRON MAN: "Please." CYCLOPS: "Maybe?" RICTOR: "Hey, look, she gave me my powers back! Maybe we could use her to repower all the other mutants? Y'know, what you X-Men are supposed to be doing?" ROGUE: "Sugah, all the X-Men do is angst about aliens and fight our own enemies. We're so isolated we don't even get junk mail! Osama Bin Ladin texted us from his cave and suggested getting out more!" MAGNETO: "Even on Asteroid M and Avalon, I kept getting PUBLISHERS CLEARINGHOUSE SWEEPSTAKES letters." CYCLOPS: "Enough! I'm doing my best!" WOLVERINE: "Can I stab Wanda NOW?" WONDER MAN: "Can I be a jerk and hate the Avengers for no reason yet?" SPIDER-MAN: "Can I hypocritically spare the life of Carnage yet make no effort to stop Wanda's murder now?" WANDA: "Of course not. We have another two issues to go!"

I think Rogue actually can touch people now. Still funny, though.
