Wow, I thought Shannon was up for Luthor not Zod. Anyway, I'm happy he's on-board. Man, the cast is shaping up nicely.

If it was a lesser actor, they would.

He really deserves it and now I know no matter what that we are going to get a Zod like we've never really seen before. People if you haven't seen Shannon in anything do yourself a favor and do.

Very, very good news.

I think we may get a Zod thats more menacing than the one in Superman II.

I also don't think he'll be the only villain, I still think knowing Nolan likes his plot twists that Zod may end up been Brainiac in the end or something.

I also have no doubt Lex will be in the film aswell.

Another Sunday casting announcement so hopefully in another two weeks we'll get another.

I personally dont mind Zod being taller than Superman. That would actually be a good thing, IMO.

BTW, Michael Shannon is such a better choice for Zod than he is for Lex, imo.

I'm kind of in the same boat, although I definitely can see where some feel Zod's inclusion could be seen as stale.

People keep comparing Zod to the Joker, but there's two points to consider. We got around 10 villains (albeit mostly in a terrible incarnation) between Joker appearances, with Zod, we didn't. At all.

Secondly, the Joker is to Batman what Lex Luthor is to Superman, not Zod. Luthor is necessary to Superman's story, and his inclusion is to be expected. Unless the story dictates (which I assume it does) Zod is no more integral to a Superman film than Riddler is to Batman.

That's an exact reversal of Reeve and Stamp's heights.

It's gonna look very different than Reeve towering over Terrence Stamp.
Shannon's 6,3 and Cavill's 6,1

Definitely the casting has been unbelievable.

Like I said in a previous post I still have a feeling Zod will end up been Brainiac.

Like with Bale vs. Neeson/Freeman/Hauer/(Caine) in BB.

He's gonna be a very different Zod that we are used to.

Hopefully like this:

I'm trying really hard to stay positive throughout this process, but I have to admit that initially my reaction is heavy dissapointment.

Zod is not who I wanted for this reboot for so many reasons... Most of them a matter of personal preference if i'm honest.

I guess I thought that if the movie was going to be more based in 'realism' that the villain should be more human.

Shannon is 6'3 1/2 officially, that's pretty much 6'4.

Routh was 6'2 1/2, but got labeled as 6'3.

Batman is not Superman. He isn't supposed to tower over everyone.

Ras is generally pretty tall too.

I was honestly hoping for them to not use Zod again, but a more f/x heavy villain truth be told, from a visual standpoint. He's kind of the safe choice, but considering fanboys are *****ing about Snyder getting too busy with the eye candy, this is technically what you all wanted. Something a little more low key.

Disapointed we're getting Zod (I really wanted Brainiac) but I can get behind the casting (even though I preferred Shannon for Lex). Overall the news we've gotten has been positive, so it's hard to be too upset.

Was the Dark Knight stuck in 1989 when they used the Joker again?

I'm pretty sure its going to be a different take on the character.

Zod was in Smallville, so does that mean we are getting smallville the movie too. Who the hell cares if he was in superman 2. you dont even know what the storyline is or if Zod is even the only villain.

Not the biggest of Zod as a villian simply as a case of been there, done that

But loving the Michael Shannon casting, that guy is a class act and is a superb actor.

They're really going for the acting big dogs in this film aren't they?

Not bad casting, thought he was more Luthor like though. I find it hilarious that we kept hearing how different things were going to be and we're getting Zod.
